Budget Babies: A Whole New Generation of Cloth Diapers

Bonnie Ferrar
With gasoline prices on the rise, another statistic may be on the rise as well---the birth rate. It is no secret that more babies are born 9 months after snowstorms and power outages. These "blackout babies", as they are affectionately termed in Labor and Delivery Units, are the result of what happens when couples have too much time on their hands. Rising gasoline prices will have much the same affect. In an attempt to save money, couples are staying home for holidays, going on fewer trips, and eating out less. So, after all this time spent at home, 9 months from now we will be welcoming the newest addition to our society: "Budget Babies". Ironically, our attempts to save money will result in a boom of notoriously expensive newborns. What will new parents do?

New parents will be faced with the ongoing challenges of raising a new baby and trying to save money. This need to streamline the budget coupled with the rising trend of "going green" will prompt more parents to investigate alternative baby products. Toping the list---cloth diapers!

These aren't your mother's cloth diapers though and moms everywhere will breathe a sigh of relief to know that no diaper pins are required. Folding cloth diapers like origami are a thing of the past. New cloth diapers look like disposable diapers and fasten easily with Velcro strips. Think white diapers are boring? New cloth diapers come in a variety of colors and patterns and you can choose from diapers lined with suede, flannel or even soft micro fleece.

Websites that sell a variety of cloth diapers and accessories will see even more traffic flow so reviews of websites like www.diapers.com will be essential. Cloth diaper reviews will also be a hot topic. Busy parents will not have time to try each brand of cloth diaper to find the ones they like the best. Reviews of Bumgenius and Kushies will be hot articles saving valuable time for all new moms and dads.

Saving money is at the top of everyone's list this year. But saving money isn't always easy, and new parents will have an even harder time trying to save money. When they look beyond the traditional Pampers or Huggies, parents will have the chance to save several thousand dollars throughout their baby's first few years. Several thousand dollars??? Yep! That buys a lot of gasoline, or a fun trip to Disney World with your newly expanded family. Changing to cloth diapers will make both the environment and the budget happy--- and in the end, isn't happiness what it's all about.
