1/2 lb Chestnuts
1 c. Brandy Liquor
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 c. Brown Sugar
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg

Preparing Chestnuts
Score chestnuts with a knife by making a small X mark on the flat side of each chestnut.2
Soaking Chestnuts
Place chestnuts into a container that has a lid. Poor 1 c. of brandy liquor over the scored chestnuts. Put lid on and let sit for 2 hours.3
Cooking Chestnuts
Drain and lightly dry chestnut by pouring them into a straighter and letting them sit for 5 minutes. Place chestnuts on a flat baking sheet. Cook for 15 to 25 minutes.4
Preparing Seasoning.
Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl and mix well.5
Final chestnut touches
Once chestnuts are cooked and warm to the touch remove from shells and cover with seasoning. Place chestnuts into decorative bowl and serve.Tip
When chestnuts are done cooking the meat is tender.Signs chestnuts are cooked: tips from the X start to curl and the nut meat turns a golden color. If chestnuts are not scored they will pop and explode while baking.
