Budget Church Decor for Your Wedding

How to Decorate the Church on a Budget for Your Wedding

Ann Siper
Decorating the church on a budget for your wedding is a great way to save some money, stay within an established budget, and save money for the rest of the wedding. Keeping all this in mind, I hope these budget church wedding décor ideas help make your wedding beautiful and save you some hard earned money.

Budget Church Wedding Décor Tip #1:

Rent silk flowers and use them in place of all fresh flowers. Save those fresh flowers for decoration on the end of the pews, and use the silk flowers where they are out of hands reach to your wedding guests. If used at a distance, the chance of any of your wedding guests knowing that the flowers are silk instead of real will be greatly reduced.

Try using the silk flowers behind the pulpit or even higher up on any walls or balcony space that needs some color.

You can also try purchasing silk flowers in the same colors and type as your real flowers. This is another great way to "fool the eye" of any wedding guest.

Budget Church Wedding Décor Tip #2:

Use fabric to add color to your wedding décor on a budget. If all your church wedding is lacking is a little color than look to fabric. You can often rent fabric from local caterers who use a huge variety of fabric on their table scapes. This is a great way to find and use high end fabric without having to buy it.

Create vertical lines of color using the fabric in your church. These huge bursts of color can replace super expensive flowers. Of course you will need to check with your church about any policies they have on hanging the fabric. But, you can always ask about changing out heavy and dark colored tapestries with long sheets of vibrant colors that match your wedding.

You could also use fabric as a "red carpet" down the center of the aisle. If you are renting fabric to save money on your church wedding décor, then use temporary fabric tape to hem the long rough edges. You could also simply fold the rough edges under. Most catering companies have their fabric dry cleaned after each use. You could also roll out this red carpet right before the bride walks down the aisle, to save wear and tear.

Fabric can also be used to create large colorful bows to be used at the ends of the aisles where flowers are traditionally placed. Use wide strips of fabric to create the bows. If you use fabric that is at least a foot wide, then when you tie the bow, it will have real presence. In this case you could use one simple flower in the center of the bow or simply skips those expensive flowers all together.
