Budget Deal is an Accomplishment

Snidely Whiplash
The House is Republican led but the Senate is still in the hands of Harry Reid and his Democrat minions. People need to get real and accept the reality that until Republican's control both Houses everything will be a compromise of some sort. It takes the approval of the House and the Senate to send a bill to the president for passage or veto. So long as Democrat's control the Senate everything will be the result of compromise and negotiation.

And keep in mind our current Big Cheese is Democrat so he can veto anything sent to him and it can effectively thwart any wish Republican's have. Folks on both sides need to get real about this. Democrats can't control things as of this moment and neither can Republicans. Now if one wants to lament the poor budget deal they can but keep in mind the undeniable facts...the discussion last week and the government shutdown averted is directly because of Democrat political gaming.

Democrats held both House and Senate since 2007. That means they set the rules, the agenda and can call for a vote on whatever they wished and stall votes or debate on whatever they did not want to deal with...that is the factual reality. Democrats did not pass a budget in the last six months of 2010 because they knew if they passed the one they wished for it would have been used against them in the 2010 midterm election. Democrats were already in enough trouble for the Obamacare debacle and they knew if they passed a budget to their liking it would hurt them more than to not pass one.

As well the Democrats failing to do their Constitutionally charged duty and pass a budget when they were in total control was to use the proposed Republican budget as a future bludgeon against Republicans. Democrats knew that the issue would be hotly contested with Republican's wishing to make massive cuts and Democrats needed the proposed cuts to demagogue Republicans with. It's simple political calculation. What amazes me is that no one in media blames Democrats for not passing the budget when they were supposed to when they held both houses and the presidency.

I would act shocked and angered at media, but why bother? They are cheerleaders for leftist politics and only a fool or a liar would deny that. So the game is still afoot. Staunch conservatives can wish for bigger cuts but until they hold the majorities to force both Houses to agree, there is little can be done. It's just political reality in how our system works, and whining about wanting more or blaming Congressional Republican's for not getting more is childish and silly. Of course I wish the cuts had been far more massive, but I know the difference between what I want and what is possible.

The struggle goes on friends and will until Republican's have both Houses and a Republican president, or both Houses and veto-proof majorities to override any Democrat presidential veto. Keep working for the future. As Republican's gain power and legislative weight we can do the bidding of the nation's citizens in due course. Of course the most important thing is to put the Senate into Republican control in 2012. Once that is done and if Obama is ousted, all will be righted and quickly too.

It's all a political game and there are rules. Those rules are that majorities are needed to affect change. The Senate will be taken by Republicans no doubt even if Obama wins reelection. The problem will begin if Republican majorities are too small for a veto-proof majority to override his certain vetoes. Keep that in mind come election time.

If independents manifest their outright anger at how Democrats ran the world from 2007 until they lost the House, and keep in mind the continued political gamesmanship Democrats are engaging in now as they hold the Senate and the White House, they too will be sent packing as it should be.

It's only 18 months until we can oust Democrats from any control by defeating Obama's clearly America hating agenda. If we toss Obama out and control both Houses the nation will quickly right itself under Republican and Tea Party influence. Patience friends, patience. All good things in time and far sooner that we've had to wait thus far. The light at the end of the tunnel's darkness is on the horizon.

I wish I could share everyone else's optimisim, but I can't. Every so-called "compromise" is another victory for the Democrats, since they still hold most of the power. Every compromise ensures that they keep a grip on that power. Still, you are right... we're never going to get what we want 100% of the time. If they're was this much fuss over a mere proposed 63 billion (they're taking away women's rights!!!"), which is a drop in the bucket to the trillions we're in debt, what is going to happen when Paul Ryan's bill comes up, which cuts trillions?

(cont.) ... generally more beneficial piece of legislation passed." They are sent to D.C. to work in the common interest and for the general welfare, not the monied interests, the lobbyists, the corporate entities, their hedge fund managers (therefore, themselves), or the 3 percent (slightly more than 10 million people) who make up the rich and the landed in this nation. What those stuffed shirt doublespeakers do not do is work for the people. They simply work for themselves and their own (check to see how much they make, how much they're comped, how many are already millionaires, and how many of them are working to produce legislation that really, actually, and truly is helping create jobs and promote the general welfare).

The power originates with people's votes. Media, academia, and the judicial branch are in the tank for Democrats, who appoint and support the power-holders there. Our votes won't touch them. But the House and Senate, and Presidency are elected seats. Our votes put people there. So, value your votes, folks, and cast them wisely. Mine won't be going to the current clowns in the White House and Senate.
