Budget Friendly Christmas Gift Ideas and More

Keep Christmas Special Without Breaking the Bank

Jesse Mathewson
Every year the list grows and the toys and gifts get more expensive, this year try something a little less expensive but still unique and wonderful for the person receiving. As we all know this year has been a bit harder than many before it, however, your children don't know this. To keep in the spirit of Christmas and giving, let's look for budget friendly Christmas gifts.

Obviously there are some toys that are "must's" for many children, however, did you know that last years game stations and even some games can be purchased for much less than ever before? For instance in Tucson Arizona we have a great second hand bookstore called Bookman's, this place has everything book related and with over four locations around Tucson, you are guaranteed a selection that rivals the larger chain "New Book" stores. So if your child or friends want the newest Twilight books or another of an endless series check here first. Many times you can purchase lightly used (in the book world known as Fine condition) books for less than 1/4th the normal price.

For those hard to find collectible games, or even some of the newer ones on the market look to Bookman's as well, they carry a large selection of collectible game stations as well as new. Moreover, all at prices that is far below normal retail. Everything is guaranteed to work or your money back within 30 days. Next stop on the shopping tour is your local Hair Stylists or Manicurists. After all we know that with an economic downturn the first things to go are the once a week hair and nail appointments. Now, because business has been slow for them as well they may be offering reduced coupons or gift certificates that will allow you to purchase 1-2 more features than you would normally pay for at the counter. Ask, and than be prepared to walk out with gifts for the ladies (or men) in the family that will put smiles on everyone's face.

If its clothes your looking for Twice as Nice is a great stop in Arizona. This place buys lightly used designer name clothing and resells it at rock bottom prices. Of course, you could also go to Ross (Shop for Less) as well. For usually less than 1/4th the normal retail prices you can get brand new designer name clothes, and even shoes. Make sure you check for obvious defects, however, normally they have great clothing at bargain pricing.

What else can we do to keep a budget friendly Christmas list growing? We have clothes, toys, books, and even video games. Oh yes, candles, place settings and the things we need for the family get together. Remember just because you did not get everyone a gift doesn't mean that you're putting together a meal for the family, is not one. The best part of a budget friendly Christmas gift experience is the meal and goodies that we eat while enjoying our families. Make sure you stop by Big Lots, and the other great Dollar style stores your town is sure to have plenty. You can usually set a table in any holiday feel for under 20.00, and than it is just the food that will take the rest of your budget for this holiday.

So remember, do not let the government's budget woes get you down this Christmas, shop budget friendly and remember. It does not always have to have a receipt from the most expensive store to be a special gift!

  • Budget friendly doesnt have to mean, no more fun!
  • Be imaginative, and get books instead of games!
The average American family will watch 8 hours and 11 minutes of television daily!
Time to start reading instead...

Columbus has Half-Price Books - love that place! It's often possible to find new books that are overstocks - never read, but half off or less!
