Budget Friendly Holiday Bathrooms

If you have company over the holidays, one area of your home that's sure to be viewed is the bathroom. Consider decorating the bath or powder room that your guests will use. Here are some details that are effective and inexpensive.

.Tissue Box Cover - I was able to purchase a plain white plastic tissue box cover for only four dollars from a discount home décor retailer. Because it is plain it can be easily transformed for the holidays by the addition of some fresh holly tied on with a red ribbon.

.Holiday Towels - Seasonal towels are a great item to invest in because they are long lasting and can be used for many years. Even one placed among other regular towels will provide that extra touch of holiday spirit. I have some towels that were passed down to me that I used as a child.

.Wall Art - Consider changing out art you might already have hanging on the wall with something seasonal. There are many inexpensive wall hangings available online, especially on ebay. Another great wall item would be an advent calendar.

.Mirror - A guaranteed focal point of the room, especially if you frame it in ribbon and/or greenery. Or make your own cut snowflakes to suspend from string and reflect in the mirror.

.Light Switch Cover - We have a handmade light switch cover made of felt that we adhere to switch plate for the holidays with a rolled up piece of tape affixed to the back. You could make your own from felt to resemble a seasonal object like a tree, gift box or Christmas ornament.

.Seasonal Soap - Some companies like Method produce seasonal soaps for holiday use. Or go to Etsy to shop for handmade soaps to fit your color scheme.

.Candles - You can select scented or decorative candles that help evoke the holiday spirit. Luminaries would have extra impact in the more limited space of a powder room.

.Ceramics - My family has a surplus of ceramic items due to the popularity of ceramic crafting during my grandmother's generation. Decorative ceramic items can be great for powder rooms, because they are easily cleaned of splashed soap and water from the sink.

.Floral Display - The powder room is often an ideal candidate for a floral display. I have an existing silk plant that I will make appropriate for the season by the addition of some seasonal red berries.

.Toilet Seat Cover - On Etsy I did see a crafter who is creating seasonal toilet seat covers. The 'top' of the lid/cover shows Santa's face. Then when you lift the lid, the cover shows a surprised Santa covering his eyes. A sure-fire conversation piece for any party.
