Budget Friendly Memorial Day Getaways for the Family

You don't have to go cross country or spend big bucks to have some fun this Memorial Day. There are plenty of ways you and your family can enjoy the holiday without breaking the bank.

Another fun idea for this Memorial Day is to head to the beach, or to the lake, whichever is closest! In some areas it still may be a little chilly, but maybe not so bad you and your family can't have some fun. You can go boating, tubing or ride jet skis. Pack a picnic lunch to eat on the beach.

Spending time outdoors makes Memorial Day special and fun. How about heading out to your local zoo? Most zoos are free are cost very little. Zoos are fun for the whole family. You can make a day out of it. Bring a picnic lunch along that day.

Hanging out at your local park or nature preserve are also some great family fun. Kids can ride their bikes, skateboards and even roller blade. There is usually no charge for the park or preserve so the only cost is just the gas to get there! Bring along a lunch and you are good to go!

What about hosting a cookout at your home? Now this idea is not really "getting away" but you can relax and enjoy the holiday with your friends. You can cook out on the grill and have some horseshoes and volley ball to play afterwards. You can even recruit your friends to bring certain foods. Homemade ice cream would be a great treat for the holiday.

If you do have some money you can spend to get away but it's not much and your still on a budget some ideas for that could be going to another city just a couple of hours away. You can stay in an affordable hotel and check out the local activities they have in the area. You can do a search online for free activities for the city and you should be able to find lots of things to do for little to no cost.

Remember the main thing that is important this Memorial Day is to have fun spending time with your family and your friends. The amount of money you have to spend doesn't matter.

You may not even realize it but fun can be right in your back yard! Kids really enjoy camping outdoors so why not make your back yard a campground? You can pitch a tent, roast marshmallows, and tell stories. Plus, your only steps away from a clean bathroom! You could cook out some hot dogs and have a weenie roast.
