Budget Friendly Valentine's Day Restaurants in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Gayle Parks
Valentines' Day is just about four weeks away. Perhaps you have someone special you would like to celebrate with but you are on a tight budget. It seems like we are all on tight budgets these days. Here is a list of 4 restaurants in Chambersburg where you can splurge for a nice meal without going broke in the process. These restaurants offer good food and relaxing atmosphere perfect for an inexpensive Valentine's Day dinner.

Panera Bread Bakery Café

979 Norland Ave

Chambersburg, PA

Located directly in front of Kohl's and Michaels stores.

Panera Bread does not offer alcohol but they do offer a cozy atmosphere, light meals and sweet desserts. Try the chicken Panini and the creamy tomato soup, both are delicious. Or go for the cheesy French Onion soup and the veggie melt. I love Panera. The smell of fresh baked bread wafts out the front door and pulls you in. They also offer fresh baked pastries like the Pecan Braid as well as brownies, cookies and mini Bundt cakes. Yummy.

Check out www.PaneraBread.com or call 717-263-6905 for more info.

Ruby Tuesday

1121 Lincoln Hwy East

Chambersburg, PA

Located next to the Four Points Inn by Sheraton

Good American food that will please even picky palates. Try the steak and crab cakes for about $18.00 or the new mini trio which includes mini versions of full size burgers one each of turkey (one of the best turkey burgers I have ever had) crab (delicious) and beef. They also offer fish, burgers, steaks, pasta, soups and salads. Prices are very reasonable and just about right for a Valentines Day dinner on a budget. I am not a big drinker so I can't claim to know their drink menu but the Raspberry iced tea was very good. Check out www.RubyTuesday.com or call 717-262-2205

Red Lobster

935 Wayne Ave

Chambersburg, PA

Located in front of the Giant food store.

Red Lobster is the good ol standby for good seafood when you live too far inland to enjoy the seafood shacks on the beach. Prices are budget friendly and menu choices are plentiful. The Create Your Own Feast special allows you to choose 2 entrees for $16.50 or 3 entrees for $20.50. Choose from Shrimp (my favorite), Flounder, salmon, crab or steak. Celebrate Valentines Day early or late on Mondays for specials on crab or Tuesdays for specials on Shrimp. They offer frozen drinks, red and white wines and beer, both bottled and draft. Check out www.RedLobster.com or call 717-263-6008.

Red Robin

921 Norland Ave

Chambersburg, PA

Located across from Target

Red Robins' prices are in the same range as the other restaurants listed here. Red Robin may be more of a family restaurant but would still offer a nice, inexpensive Valentines Day dinner. They offer all the usual fare such as burgers, (including chicken burgers), soups, salads and entrees including cod, chicken, shrimp and steaks. The Apple Harvest Chicken salad is wonderful with sliced apples, candied walnuts, goat cheese and Dijon vinaigrette on field greens. Their soup and salad combo is only $10.00. They offer margaritas, beer and wine and their soft drinks are "bottomless" i.e. unlimited refills. Check out www.RedRobin.com or call 717-263-7900.

None of the restaurants listed above require a reservation but it might be a good idea to call a few days ahead of time to make sure you won't need one for Valentines Day and it never hurts to get there early.

Do you know of any vegetarian-friendly restaurants in the area, or a little south of you? My boyfriend and I are vegetarian and recently moved to Martinsburg, WV, but Chambersburg isn't too far for us to drive on occasion.
