Last August my husband surprised me by taking me to Estes Park, Colorado for the first time and I must say that I lost my heart to this lovely little town. Since this was a last moment decision and we were traveling on a semi tight budget, we were looking for great last minute deals. After researching on the internet I came across the Budget Host 4 Winds Motor Lodge. The Website was easy to navigate and since this was a last moment travel as I mentioned I wanted to make certain that we would have reasonable accommodations when we arrived. From the very first moment I placed this call I had a very enjoyable and pleasant experience with this demure little lodging.
The lady on the other end was Carmen, who was friendly and more than willing to help me with a wonderful sense of humor and great customer service. She was quick to answer my questions, was able to help me with the booking over the phone line and within less then 10 minutes, I had a nice simple but comfortable room booked for 4 days including a more then reasonable price at $74.00 per night at the end of the Tourist Season. She even helped us by entering our AAA Discount into it, something she made me aware off being eligible for.
With Information in hand, our bags packed and a map to guide us on the way, we expected to arrive late at night (after Midnight and way past the regular check in time), which she helped me with as well and made arrangements for us to pick up the key when we got there.
Our first change came half way on the way, when both my husband and I realized that traffic wise and trip length wise it was simply to strenuous to go the entire way in one sitting. It can be done, but we had gotten a late start and simply did not feel like pushing on. I placed another call to Carmen and explained to her that we would not be able to make it until the following day and was wondering if we could simply push the days back by one day. Again, she was more then helpful and our reservation change was handled quickly and professionally.
When we arrived the next day a little early for check in, the room was already sitting ready and waiting for us. I even asked for a couple of extra pillows for the bed which were provided to me quickly and free of extra charge.
The room was simple but clean and comfortable. A small Refrigerator and a 1 cup coffee maker were part of the perks. The location was excellent and when stepping outside of my room door I got the most amazing view of the Mountains surrounding us. A small continental Breakfast is available for the guests in the morning if you want to take advantage of is and Carmen and her Co-workers are always friendly and happy to answer any request or questions you may have.
The Motor Lodge is conveniently located at Big Thompson Ave (their little shopping street) and near the Rocky Mountain National Park Entrance. If you don't feel like driving your car to go shopping, you can simply take a Store Shuttle which stops about every hour at the front of the Motel. A nice service the Township provides free of charge.
We picked a simple room since we only wanted it to sleep in, having been planning on spending our days shopping around in the quaint shops, hiking in the Rockies and whatever wonderful opportunities we could find for amusement. However, for those of you who are looking for a big fancier, you are in luck as well.
Kitchenettes, Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and Sauna are available as well as Cabins. Depending on your Budget there is a little bit of everything for everyone. The Front Desk is staffed from 8 am until 10:00 pm. Check in Time is at 2 pm and check-out at 10:00 am. If you need to check out later, please check with the friendly Staff to see if arrangements can be made. Believe me if they can help you, they will do so gladly.
Weekly and Monthly Rates are available for the Kitchenettes and Cabins, but I am not aware of the Rates so you have to call them. I suggest that if you are planning on going in the peak Season (June - August) you make reservations ahead of time.
Credit Cards are gladly accepted there. American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa and of course you can pay ahead with cash as well.
Now what more can I possibly tell you, but to give them a call and make your Reservations. Tell Carmen I said hello!
