To make Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops you will need to spread it out over a couple days; so working over the weekend will probably work best. While you won't be working on the craft project all day long, you do need to allow for time for materials to dry.
To Make Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops You Will Need:
Vintage keys
Grout
Tile Adhesive
Small one inch square glass tiles
Hammer
Sand paper
The first step is to clean your kitchen counter tops. Now, if you are working around a sink you will need to go ahead and remove it. Once you are finished you can re install it on the Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile counter tops.
Everyone will have a different sized kitchen counter tops, so I can only give you tips on how to know how to make your Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops.
The entire counter tops will be covered in those ultra cool small glass tiles that are al the rage in kitchens right now. The unique twist will come when you add some of your vintage key collection.
Now, you need to establish the pattern or lack of pattern you want to create on your Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops. Personally, I like a random pattern, but that is up to you.
I think it also looks great to create a pattern with the vintage keys. Think of those retro bathroom floors where there was an occasional black tile. Instead of the black tile you will be placing a Vintage Key. Also, instead of those retro white tiles you will be using ultra hip small glass tiles.
Once you have your pattern established, you need to start working on your Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops.
So, take some rough sand paper and start to sand off the shine from our laminate counter tops.
When you have finished you can wipe away any dust.
Now, to start applying your small square glass tiles I recommend working in sections. This means, grout your counter, place the individual tile and then place the key in the correct location on the kitchen counter tops.
Do not worry about how uneven the key is. As long as you have the top of it resting with the same height as your tile, when you grout you will be able to see the vintage key as well as keep a level kitchen counter.
Now, once the Vintage Key Mosaic Glass tile pieces have dried in place on the kitchen counter tops you can grout. Be sure to read how long your specific tile adhesive needs to dry before you grout.
You can use pre made grout or mix your own to save money.
Use a trowel to apply the grout liberally over each contemporary glass tile and vintage key to the kitchen counter tops. Let it dry to a haze, then wipe a way with a sponge until clean and clear.
Now, once the grout has dried on your Vintage Key Mosaic Glass Tile Kitchen Counter Tops you are finished.
