Streamers
Streamers are quite common for 4th of July party decorations, but if you're on a budget, there are still ways to use them and still keep it cheap. You can tack streamers around door frames instead of an entire room, or around tables. You can also just tape them to the corners of the table.
Balloons
Balloons are cheap party decorations, and perfect for 4th of July. Fortunately, it's easy and cheap to get your hands on helium filled balloons, and you can easily tack them down with soda cans or canned food wrapped in tissue paper or foil. If your party is indoors, you can even let them float to the ceiling.
While many people attempt to fill them with purchased tanks, it's not an easy process. If you can find someone who can fill your balloons for you, you might want to go that route.
Helium balloons also tend to lose air quickly, so if you can't pick them up on the day of your party, ask the store how much high float costs. High float is a gel that prevents the helium from leaking out. It's still cheap, at about 20 cents per balloon, but they'll float for 2-3 days. At less than a dollar for each filled balloon, they can be cheap 4th of July party decorations. You can even use them sparingly. Tape a few to your mailbox so guests can find your home easier.
If helium is out of the budget, regular balloons are fine indoors or taped to things outside like railings. Just put them where you want them with some tape.
Flags
The use of flags as cheap party decorations on 4th of July is obvious, but many people are unaware of the possibilities when it comes to flags of all sizes. Larger flags can be hung in formations off your house. Smaller ones can become accents on porches and walls. The tiny ones can be put in a planter or staggered along the front walk. Plus, the kids can take them home with them.
Stars
Stars are as much a staple at 4th of July parties as stripes, of course. It's so easy to add stars to your theme as cheap party decorations. Stickers, cardboard cut-outs taped to windows and walls, star garland or other accents. You're really only limited by your imagination and stars often give a regal look to parties, even if they're not 4th of July parties.
Tablewear
Since so many 4th of July parties take place outside, paper plates and plastic utensils are quite common. You can spruce things up a bit by getting cups, plates, napkins, utensils, and/or tablecloths in red, white, and blue. They don't have to be 4th of July themed to be appropriate. Cut costs by going with 4th of July colors, and check your local megastore instead of a party store. The selection is smaller, but so is the price tag.
Have a safe and fun 4th of July.
