From Basic to Classy

It's time to think about your summer vacation and how you are going to spend it. Sometimes the best vacations are budget vacations and now is the time to plan. With a little research and planning you can have a great vacation and save gas, money and time.

If you live within driving distance of one of our major ocean's then consider it's many advantages for fun and budget. If you are family oriented and ready to go all you need to do is invest in the purchase or rental of a tent, van, trailer or hotel room. You can also check into local condos for rent by the night or the week. Choose your destination and check for condos, rooms and campgrounds in the area. Decide which would be fun for the whole family and how you want to spend clean up time as well as meals. Each is going to be a different experience.

For the camper you can make your reservation in advance. When you arrive be sure there is still light enough in the day to set up your tent or place the trailer. Most campgrounds along the coast will have open pit or outdoor cooking area's. Bring along your own wood or purchase it from the local area. Be sure you cook simple but great meals. Bite size pieces of steak are great when cooked on a long skewer over an open night time fire. Add good bread and cupcakes to finish it off. There is little clean up and everyone has a good time.

For entertainment you can walk along the ocean and observe sea life as well as swim, play in the surf, find romance and run for health. The sea air is one of the best when you fill your lungs and let the stress disappear. Take along Frisbee's and a football for active fun. For those with a love of times together don't forget the camera to record family time and beautiful sunset's. Take advantage of the many dining places serving the freshest seafood caught that morning. You'll find so much to do without spending too much you'll never want to leave.

For the frontier adventurer and comfort seeker choose a cabin in the woods with all the convinces of city life. You'll find books on local trails you can hike during the day and dining in the best area restaurants at night. Many times you'll even enjoy the music of the local night club and see how the other half live. Don't cook, just eat out or invest in local goodies such as good coffee, great snacks and salads to a great bottle of wine to share in front of a fire.

You have the money but want to make it go a long way then enjoy your own backyard. Check for local resorts near your home. No more than an hours drive away you can stay in the honeymoon suite with all the luxury that goes with it. Enjoy breakfast in bed as room service brings in champagne, orange juice and a special quiche just for you. You can lay in bed and watch your favorite movies, but when it's time to get out explore the shops, eat a great lunch then it's back to the resort for an afternoon swim before dinner and dancing.

You don't have to look for a distance oasis to have a good time. You just have to explore the oasis's near you and take advantage of being a local for discounts and good times. Always take a good book, camera, one nice set of clothes and leave the stress behind along with the cell phone. No work, no neighbors and no stress. It's a vacation in heaven without the long drive home.

I asked my kids where they wanted to go for summer vacation and all they could say was that they wanted to go to summer camp. My children love to go to camp...and it's the best thing for me because while I am at work, I know that they are playing and having fun with their friends. When I started taking them to camp (which is a 10 minute drive from my job), I was so paranoid that something would happen to them and they would have no way of getting in contact with me. After doing alot of research, I got them a prepaid phone. It's a phone where you pay for the minutes that you use and nothing more. Since the phones are only to stay in contact with me, I buy them the cheapest card of minutes and it lasts them almost 2-3 months. It works wonders.

The last two sentences say it all. Especially the, "no work, no neighbors, and no stress" part.
