This rifle was originally manufactured in or around 1944. It is chambered in the 7.62x54r cartridge. Ammunition for this rifle is available for as little as 20 cents per round. These rifles can be obtained for around $80 to $100 from a number of sources both on and off line.
Mosin Nagant 91/30
Big brother of the M44. This rifle is similar to the M44 except it is longer and heavier. It uses the same, inexpensive ammunition and can be obtained for $70 to $90 from a number of sources.
Swiss K31
This relatively undiscovered military surplus rifle is reputed to be one of the most accurate on the market. These rifles can be obtained for around $200 from a number of sources. They have a unique straight pull bolt operating system. The rifle is chambered for the 7.5x55 Swiss round. These rounds are available for approximately 50 cents per round from a number of sources.
Steyr M95
This short, very maneuverable rifle has its origins in Austria. Its size and handiness make it very interesting to collectors and shooters alike. It is chambered for the 8x56r cartridge. These cartridges are a little harder to find and typically cost about $1 per round. These rifles can be obtained for around $90.
Yugoslavian M24/47
This rifle is a clone of the super popular and reliable mauser action. The rifle is chambered for the 8mm Mauser cartridge which is inexpensive and widely available. These rifles can be purchased for about $150.
