Here are some tips you can use to professional looking wedding hair and makeup at a fraction of the cost.
1. Have a friend do your wedding makeup. If you have a friend or acquaintance that is particularly good at doing makeup, ask them to do your wedding makeup as a wedding gift. They won't have to riffle through your wedding registry for a gift and they'll gain exposure for their talent.
2. Do your own hair. Practice ahead of time, several times if you have to so you can get your wedding hairstyle perfect. Use wedding magazines and videos as your guide.
3. Let your bridesmaids do their own makeup. Your bridesmaids can each go in for free makeup consultations at department makeup counters and then replicate the look themselves on the big day.
4. Make use of cosmetology students. Hire a couple of cosmetology students to do your wedding hair and your bridal party's hair. They'll gain exposure for their work and you'll save money in your wedding budget.
5. Do your own makeup. If you've have some skill at applying makeup, consider doing it yourself. Have a consultation with a makeup artist first to see what he or she suggests. You'll also be able to keep any makeup your purchase.
6. Go with a simple wedding hairstyle. The more simple the hairstyle, the easier it will be for you to replicate it on your own and stay within budget.
7. Make your veil the main focus of your hairstyle. The more emphasis you put on your veil, the less you'll have to put on your hair.
8. Use simple makeup. If you choose to do your own wedding makeup, go with a minimal natural approach. You'll save money and there will be less room for error.
9. Wear a bare face. Now most ladies won't go for this approach, but if you're a minimal makeup wearer going for a very simple look, consider putting on some tinted lip gloss and calling it a day.
10. Have your bridal party pay for their own hairstyle. Let the ladies forego giving you a gift, and instead they can pay to have their own hair styled for your wedding. Just make sure you're on one accord about what style they will wear.
