What most people do not take into account is that they are not buying groceries so much because they taste good, becuase what they are really doing is paying for the brand name. In truth, we spend more on brand-name products than we do on something that may taste just as good but is offered at a lower price. Now, while it may seem like a risk and seem like money flushed down the drain, it really isn't. The whole purpose of grocery shopping is to get food in the house so that we can feed ourselves and our families. So, wouldn't it be better to find a way to save a few dollars just in case of an emergency?
In this article, I will give you the best way to shop and how to get the most bang for your buck while you are at it, and it will take you going to one place. It is called a discount grocery outlet.
Discount grocery outlets are just like grocery stores, except that they carry off-brands, discontinued items, and also name brands depending on what you are shopping for. One thing that is nice about these places is that there is never a need for coupon-clipping and buying the Sunday paper every week just to get them or the grocery ads to find out what is on sale and where. Instead of that, these grocery outlets are one-stop shopping, where you can get what you need and how much you need and pay nearly a quarter of what it would cost in any normal grocery store. With that taken into account, it means that you are putting money back into your own pocket.
So, where are these places? It really depends on where you live, as they may not exist in your hometown. Where I live, we have a store that is called the Rainbow Grocery Outlet, where my wife and I have shopped every two weeks for the last few years. In every instance that I have shopped in this store, I have taken nearly $100 off of my grocery bill every two weeks. Now that is what I call a savings! Just this past week, my wife had found Stouffer's brand Paninis at ninety-nine cents per box! Also, we found things like Capn Crunch cereal for $1.69 and a pound box of Cheez-Its for $2.00! Are you starting to get the picture?
While it may seem that these types of stores may feel like you are taking a Welfare shot at grocery shopping, it really isn't. These stores are created to compete with other stores on the market, as they have the ability to get name brands wholesale and at a cheaper price then most stores. While they may not be all name-brand, the others that may be generic may taste just as well. My wife and I experiment every time we go in, and we have found that there are some brands that we just love and others that we simply just threw in the trash merely because we didn't like it. If that happens, don't be too hard on yourself, as you may have only lost a dollar or two rather than four or five. With shopping there, there may be a little experimentation involved, but if it will save you money, why not try it? If you don't like it, it just means that you have to plug through it and never buy it again!
Some of the other thing that's nice about stores such as this as they sometimes have extra amenities. Here, we have a deli, a produce section, two aisles of frozen, and even a miccelaneous aisle where you can purchase things like pillows, laundry baskets, candy, and even sometimes, cheap ways of making a Halloween costume! Now, while this may not seem like a great and wondrous thing, as all stores have these, it's the pricing that makes the difference. Instead of frozen chicken being six dollars, try three-fifty for a ten pound bag! How about getting M and M's for a dollar for a pound bag instead of three? Does this sound good?
It's never a shame to shop in stores such as these, as the whole goal to this is saving money, which is something that we all want to do. Look in your local area and se if there is a place such as this. If there is, it could be your next Mecca for grocery shopping. Good luck!
