Located at the Hilltop Plaza Shopping Center in Virginia Beach is a small and simple restaurant called Buffalo Beach. Upon walking into Buffalo beach, we had no idea you could seat yourself, as there was no sign, no hostess at what appeared to be the host stand and the bartender didn't seem to be paying any attention to the entrance. It was about five minutes before a waitress advised us to seat ourselves.

The dining room seating area was pretty simple. A few random tables were set up in the center and the side wall had several u-shaped tables with a large high definition television. The menu was limited but with a variety of dishes such as calamari, quesadillas, sliders, wraps, pizza, burgers, fried seafood baskets, and their major menu item was wings.

There was an entire page on their menu dedicated to wings and specialty sauces such as Maryland Crab, Jamaican Jerk, Sweet Chili, Spicy Bourbon and at least 15 other choices.

I ordered the fried shrimp basket and the waitress seemed to be confused when I pointed the item out on the menu, as if either she didn't know the menu or no one ever ordered it so she forgot it was there. My fiance ordered citrus Chipotle BBQ wings which he enjoyed stating that it was a new unique flavor that was sweet and tangy. My friend ordered the Baby Back Ribs that was rubbed with one of the wing sauce seasonings.

It did take quite some time to receive our food. When we did, I asked for tartar sauce and the waitress didn't think they actually carried it at the restaurant and had to ask. This didn't sound right considering we were at an ocean/beach location.

My fiance and friend enjoyed their meals, but I felt the fried shrimp was very greasy, heavy and did not taste fresh. Rather, it tasted like it had been reheated from a frozen state. All menu items were under $25. Considering two out of three dishes were very good, I would recommend dining at Buffalo Beach, but I do not recommend the fried shrimp basket. It is affordable and convenient if you are in the Hilltop Plaza Shopping Center area of Virginia Beach.
