Buffalo Bills Training Camp Review

At Saint John Fisher College in Rochester, New York

I received an extra ticket to watch the Buffalo Bill's training camp night practice at Saint John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. I didn't realize it was a corporate hospitality area ticket that included closer parking. The corporate area was on the opposite side of the bleaches and was set up with huge tents with tables and chairs. They offered an all you can eat and drink buffet which was very convenient because I didn't get the chance to eat dinner yet. As you entered the tent area, everyone received a souvenir bag filled with a t-shirt, mini football, plastic Buffalo Bills cup and some coupons.

After trying some of the buffet, we were able to get a closer view of the practice. We actually stood on the edge of the field behind a white vinyl picket fence about ten yards away from some of the players. Terrell Owens couldn't make the practice again because of a sprained toe. It was T.O. mania even though he was missing. Everywhere you looked there were jerseys, pictures and contests to win something that involved Terrell Owens. I personally think people were going overboard.

The team had a light practice and mostly did position drills. We didn't see anything too involved or some hard hitting. The quarterbacks took a bunch of snaps and practiced scrambling. The running backs took some short five yard handoffs and practiced a series of agility drills back and forth. There were some short plays with the offense and the defense practiced some blocking. I would say the coolest part was seeing them practice their hurry up offense briefly. When they tried to get as many plays in as they could in 40 seconds. Then they tried kicking a field goal when they moved down the field.

The practice was extremely light. I was expecting to see more scrimmaging and hitting, but they are the professionals and they know what they need to do. Hopefully, the team will be prepared to fight through their difficult 2009-2010 schedule and make it to the playoffs. The Buffalo Bill's training camp is a fun place for the whole family. They have prizes, contests, food, shopping, displays, free samples and football to watch. I recommend going at least once to try it out.
