Buffalo Bills Vs New York Jets: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

Buffalo Bills Look to Do Damage to New York Jets in Final Game of 2010

Todd Jacobs
The Buffalo Bills will end their season in the Meadowlands as they face the New York Jets January 2nd. Neither team has much to play for in this game. The Buffalo Bills are playing out the string and the New York Jets are in as a wild card team for the NFL Playoffs. The New York Jets have said they are considering starting Mark Sanchez in this game but he may be removed after a half of play.

Buffalo Bills Defense vs New York Jets Offense

Run defense is the weakness of this Buffalo Bills defense but they have improved as the season has wound to a close. They were yielding over 170 yards per game on the ground and as they close the season they are now averaging 158 yards per game on the ground.

Pass defense is the best aspect of the Buffalo Bills defense. They are holding opposing quarterbacks to 202 yards per game but they are young and have been giving up big plays. The young secondary is also not afraid to make contact after the five yard buffer. They are physical and they are gamblers at times.

Mark Sanchez will play in this game although it is meaningless to the New York Jets. Sanchez had a big game against the Chicago Bears but in the end the could not close. Sanchez threw for a touchdown pass and 269 yards in a game that the New York Jets were desperately fighting for their NFL Playoff lives.

The running game will be the key for the New York Jets. The New York Jets once again failed to rush for 100 yards against the Chicago Bears. Shonn Greene has disappointed as the number one running back and LaDanian Tomlinson is showing his age late in the season. The New York Jets offense has the edge over the Buffalo Bills defense.

Buffalo Bills Offense vs New York Jets Defense

Ryan Fitzpatrick has shown signs of life for the Buffalo Bills and a decent offense this season. The passing game for the Buffalo Bills is averaging a dismal 199 yards per game but they do have an explosive element when the receivers can hold onto the ball. The running game for the Buffalo Bills has also been disappointing this season and CJ Spiller has not integrated himself into the line up in his first season.

Defense is the reason the New York Jets are in the NFL Playoffs. Bart Scott has led this defense all season long. Scott is the motor of this defense and when he is barking everyone on defense listens. Darrelle Revis has not been the greatest cover corner in the NFL this season but he is still well entrenched as a top five NFL corner. The New York Jets defense has the edge over the Buffalo Bills offense.

Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets -7: Pick Against the Spread & Breakdown

The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook has posted the New York Jets as a touchdown favorite over the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills are 5-2 against the spread on the road and it is representative of the toughness of this Bills team. The New York Jets are 3-4 against the spread on their home field and have not been an easy team to lay points with this season. Take the Buffalo Bills +7 points over the New York Jets.
