Buffalo Ridge: Is it a Legend?

wantstoWAH
Buffalo Ridge is in Hamilton County in Cincinnati, Ohio. There are many stories associated with Buffalo Ridge that have been told for decades. One story is that a young boy was killed in a hit and run accident. It's said that the boy's mangled body left a blood stain in the road that has never disappeared. It's said that a woman was killed while trying on her wedding dress and her lost soul roams Buffalo Ridge searching for her head. Other stories include a car load of people during a gang initiation crashed on Buffalo Ridge and you can hear a car blaring music and a car running up and down the hills. It's said you can hear screams and the crash of a car. There is an old abandoned house on Buffalo Ridge that supposedly, lights have been seen inside the house even though nobody has live there for decades. Legend has it, that if you go up the driveway, you can see a witch standing in the window. Could this be the headless bride?

Near Buffalo Ridge is a place called Munchkinland. Now, the legend behind Munchkinland is that it's a tiny village with tiny houses and "little people." At the road-side in this small village is huge bells. It's been said that if you go there and ring the bell, the "little people will come out and throw stones at you. It's said that everything there is little. Little houses, little cars and yes, little people.

When I was a young child living in Cincinnati, I was often a tag-a-long to my older brother and sister. My brother is eleven years older, and my sister ten years older than me. I remember one occasion, I was with them and a car load of their friends. We took a cruise up to Munchkinland. I'll admit, I saw some strange looking tiny cars that almost looked circus-like. We never did see any "little people" though. We then headed up to Buffalo Ridge. This is what really stands out in my mind, quite vividly actually. The only thing I can recall is alot of chaos, the next thing I know we are speeding up and down the hills with everybody panicking.

Well, I know that many are skeptical when it comes to the paranormal and I am as well to some extent, but I do believe that something evil may lurk on Buffalo Ridge and I'll tell you why. Three years ago, I revisited Cincinnati for my nephew's graduation. After some reminiscing and of course, a couple beers, we started talking about Munchkinland. Needless to say, I got this bright idea of heading out to Munchkinland because I wanted to see it again. We all piled in my brother's life-long friend's SUV, who was with us back in 1977 when they took me to Buffalo Ridge by the way, and we headed to Munchkinland.

When we got to Munchkinland, it looked very different than I remembered as a child. I didn't see any little cars this time, but I did see the bells. So I decided I wanted to get out and ring the bell next to the guard shack. To my surprise, when I started getting out of the car to ring the bell a man stepped out of the guard shack and started walking toward me. Needless to say, we high-tailed it right on out of there. So with all of the excitement, I asked if we could go to Buffalo Ridge. Everybody became silent, then my brother spoke up and said there was no way we were going up to Buffalo Ridge. We headed back home and everybody was just silent all the way home.

After we got back home and everybody was winding down, I asked my brother, sister and their friend why they were so afraid of Buffalo Ridge, what happened up there? They then proceeded to tell me about the experiences they had. They said they used to always cruise Buffalo Ridge as teens, always looking for the unknown. They always wanted to see something up there. They told me the first time they saw anything was the time I was with them. They said that there was an orb-like object that appeared and was following alongside the car, right next to the driver's door. If they would speed up, the orb would speed up and if they slowed down, it would slow down, always staying right next to the door. I do remember the hysteria, but I don't remember seeing an orb.

A few weeks later, they went to Buffalo Ridge again, they just weren't sure of what they saw and was hoping to see it again. This next incident was enough to take away any desire to return to Buffalo Ridge ever again. My brother told me that when they were coming over a hill, once they came over the top, down below in the road was a creature like they have never seen before. This creature as told to me, had the appearance of a wolf, it stood on two legs only and had hoof's, not paws. They hit the brakes and it looked straight at the car before running off on it's hind legs into the woods.

Now, think what you will. I would be very skeptical too. The only reason I believe this story is because I don't believe my brother and sister would make something like this up. They claim there was six individuals in the car that can confirm what they saw and I was talking to three of them at the moment. They would swear on their lives on what they saw. My brother said the creature had a very demonic look and they have never had the desire to return to Buffalo Ridge again.

Some who read this story may be familiar with Buffalo Ridge and the legends behind it. It's very difficult to believe something you have not witnessed first hand. I don't believe however, that there can be so many different stories associated with Buffalo Ridge of different deaths or tragedy, but I do believe there is some sort of evil associated with it. There has also been a lot of cult activity associated with Buffalo Ridge. I truly believe my own brother, who is a minister by the way, would not have any reason to tell a lie for the last thirty years.

I'm originally from there and believe you. My sister used to take me there and scare me by locking all the car doors and watching out for munchkins with pitchforks. Never did see any but I plan on taking my teenage daughter there on our next visit.
