BuffaloFoods.com: A One-Stop Shop for Buffalo, New York, Comfort Foods

Charlene S Noto
All over the country, there are individuals who originally hailed from Buffalo, New York. Though they may be transplanted elsewhere, most of them will tell you they still miss their wings, pepperoni or good-old beef on weck.

This company, at 1585 Walden Ave in Buffalo, also maintains a Web site and delivery service for those around the country who like to get their comfort foods from home. All the favorites: Redlinski Meats, Al Cohen's Rye bread, Miller's horseradish, La Nova's wings, Bison's dip, Weber's mustard, Nowinski's Pierogies, Margherita's pepperoni and many others can be found and delivered to anywhere in the country with just a click of the mouse.

Appearance:

The Buffalofoods.com Web site is easy to navigate with a menu on the left side, listing the various categories of food, a checkout link and a Home link. I'm not crazy about their use of the yellow background color with red lettering on the left menu area, but it is easy to read, though a tad bright for my tastes. The right side of the screen changes, depending on your menu selection.

Once you click on a category, a very nice display appears in the table on the right. It displays all available brands, popular in Buffalo, their size and price, along with a picture of the product. There is also an icon indicating whether the item will be shipped ground or air.

Ease of Ordering:

On the page displaying the various products in your selected category, there is a text box where you can enter the quantity you wish. Once you type in a quantity, it automatically calculates and shows you the subtotal. When you click the "Add to Cart" button, also very visible, I like that it displays a bright "Item on Cart" below the button and changes the button display to "Remove". This area is incredibly easy to work with.

When finished selecting all your products, you can click the Checkout on the left menu bar and the area where you were looking at products will change to their checkout screen. This area is also incredibly easy to use. You provide the zip code of the shipping address and your shipping charges are displayed for you. At that point you can either scroll down further to complete your order or you can continue to shop.

In the next section, Buffalofoods.com provides crystal clear, itemized shipping policies and requires you to check a box declaring you have read them. I do like companies which give clearly set your expectations and they have done a fine job on this Web site.

The ordering area is simple and straight-forward and there is a section where you can complete a gift card if you are shipping to someone else and an additional section for typing any special shipping instructions.

One other thing I like about BuffaloFoods is they also provide you with an 800 telephone number and an email address in addition to emailing you your tracking number. This added attention to detail gives you confidence when ordering and a way to discuss things with a real live person.

Personal Experience:

We have placed several orders to this company for both perishable and non-perishable items. The perishables are packed into an extremely sturdy box, frozen and packed in packing peanuts. Everything from BuffaloFoods always arrives in great condition though I do wish they used more ecologically friendly packing peanuts rather than Styrofoam.

Recommendation:

I give both the website BuffaloFoods.com, and the company itself, 5 stars for outstanding customer service, clear instructions and ease of use.

There are places where true wing-freaks say they cannot get good wings in this country
