Build a Lot 3: Passport to Europe

How to Complete the Second Area

The third installment of the hit game Build-a-lot takes you to Europe to build and rebuild some notable neighborhoods. While the basic game play is the same (building houses, upgrading and selling them), this edition offers some new challenges to keep you interested. While you receive the benefit of Edwina Kingsly (the Realtor and your helper through the tutorial) in the first country, Italy presents new floor plans and introduces the deadline timer. This walkthrough will tell you the steps needed to complete each game level in the quickest amount of time. The purpose of a walkthrough is to help you through a section of a game where you may get stuck.

Beginning in the second area, you will meet Angelino Giovanni, a local contractor. He tells you about the timer in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. If you finish before the mark on the timer, you will receive the "Expert" badge for the level. He then tells you your goals for this section are to draft a new blueprint, build two of the new house style, build one cottage and have a rental income of $4,500. To draft a new blueprint, first select the "Blueprints" tab, and then select the Venetian plan to purchase the blueprint. Once you have purchased the blueprint you can then build the two Venetians and the cottage needed to complete the level. By upgrading each of the houses by one star, you will have the $4,500 rental income. Each level starts you out with a predetermined amount of money. What ever you make from building the houses gets added to your "career earnings" and grows at the end of each level.

Beginning in the second section, your requirements include restoring a house. To start the level, you have two Venetian houses and one cottage that have all deteriorated. Repair each of these houses by selecting them and clicking the renovate button at the bottom of the screen. This will increase the rental income and complete one piece of the requirement. The other tasks are to upgrade two cottages to two stars each and have a rental income of $6,000. Build or buy another cottage while you have the other houses being repaired. Upgrade each one by selecting the house and clicking the "Upgrade" button at the bottom of the screen. To complete this level, upgrade each Venetian once and each cottage twice to meet the rental requirement.

Beginning in the last part of Italy is the requirement of painting the exterior of the houses to increase the curb appeal and neighborhood happiness. To complete this level, you must paint four houses, restore one, build or buy one Venetian house and have a positive five appeal. To start the level, you have two cottages that need to be restored. Once restored, you can then paint them by selecting the house, clicking the "Paint" button and selecting the color. You start out with a negative 40 appeal (due to the houses being run down) and have to reach a positive 5 to complete the level. Each house that is painted and restored brings the appeal up by 15 points, 10 points for the restoration and five for the painting. Build a Venetian to paint for the third painted house. Then, build one more cottage and paint it to have the four painted houses. Next, purchase one of the other run down houses and restore it to have a positive 10 appeal and complete the level.
