Build Your Vocabulary: Sexual Language

Tara M. Clapper
Sexual language is simply impressive. A skillful user of the English language can use more exotic sexual words, perhaps indicating that he or she has some other unconventional moves for later.

Once two people are already intimate enough to engage in sexual activity, they are also experiencing the optimal time for sexy language. By all means, talk dirty--but be sure to add in a couple of exciting, lusty words to add something new and intelligent to the mood.

Try using some of these before, during, and after words to captivate your partner during all stages of intercourse.

Before Words:

Aroused

Definition: To incite or stir up; to sexually stimulate.

Example: More than just his interest was aroused when she appeared in a silk negligee.

Connotation: A straightforward word, this is usually associated with sexual innuendo, even when used in another context.

Palpable

Definition: Visceral; able to be felt.

Example: The sexual tension was so extreme it was nearly palpable.

Connotation: This word is implicit of the actions of touch and taste, as it is associated with fruit.

During Words:

Gratify

Definition: To satisfy or pleasure a person.

Example: Eventually, he sought to gratify her after hours of foreplay.

Connotation: This word can also be used to describe nonsexual satisfaction in daily life. The word implies that the subject of gratification receives the pleasure as a welcome gift.

Rapture

Definition: Complete ecstasy, near otherworldly joy

Example: When she realized it was an engagement ring, she surrendered to the rapture that she felt, passionately kissing the man who had just proposed to her.

Connotation: Rapture is a somewhat spiritual condition, suggesting pleasure to the point of transcendence.

After Words:

Entwined

Definition: Wrapped together like vines, difficult to separate.

Example: The lovers fell asleep on the bed with their legs entwined.

Connotation: Used in romance novels, this word has a softer connotation and is used in literature to represent lovers combining on a higher level as well.

Satiated

Definition: Filled, pleased, satisfied.

Example: After four hours of lovemaking, the newlyweds' desire was satiated.

Connotation: Typically paired with primal needs such as hunger and sex, this is an intellectual word which describes a very instinctual feeling.

Using a more descriptive vocabulary at the right moments will certainly impress your partner. For the literary mind, there is nothing sexier than a partner that knows how to display his or her linguistic prowess. For the best of luck using these luring words in the bedroom, practice them before your date in front of the mirror. Your confidence will surely be attractive.
