The first thing is to be sure you have an idea of what you want. Do you want an old-fashioned bar or one that oozes the latest modern trends? How colorful do you want the bar to be? Visualize the type of bar you want and make a good draft of it. Look around your house and determine the exact point you want the bar to be. You could want it closer to some rooms than others. Some people also love having bars in their basement. How large do you also want your bar to be? You might want to host parties in there later. Now is the time to figure all that out.
The next thing to worry about is how comfortable you want the bar to be. Listening to cool music while sipping a drink could appeal to you. Make arrangements for the sound system and probably a television. You would enjoy watching your favorite program in the sanctuary of your bar. Think of how you would want all the components arranged to maximize space while making things easy for yourself.
Then check out other bars around. You could find out what your friend's bar looks like or you could search for pictures on the Internet. This will guide you when putting the final finishing touches to your own original plan. Magazines that contain such pictures could also assist in getting things right. Source for them and bring out the best possible combination from all available.
The minute you are done with your design, start estimating the potential cost of the bar. You need to know the materials you will require. Take into account the number of stools your bar would need. This is a little project that should create fun for you while you dabble into the likely unfamiliar world of interior designers and carpenters.
You can always distinguish your bar from the others. There are a gazillion number of ways to design bars. As you go on, you will find out that there are several possibilities. And to add to the fun, you can build your bar yourself. Keep the ideas coming and you will end up with a masterpiece.
