Building Followers on Twitter is Really Easy

It is to true. To become a great leader you must be a great follower. Twitter is no different and you can increase your followers in specific subject areas by becoming a follower your self.

How does it work?

If you do not have a twitter account already than go to http://twitter.com/emeraldbliss. In the upper right hand corner there is a link for you to sign up. Once you have signed up you can choose to follow me. I will follow you back.

Once you have set up your twitter account and after logging and providing you have an email account with Gmail, Yahoo and/or AOL you may click on Find People in the upper right corner. Then in the dialog box that comes up click on, Find on other networks. Provided you have a list of friends in any email accounts through Gmail, Yahoo and/or AOL, you may click on one of the three choices. Type in your email address and the user ID and submit. A list of your saved email address will come up giving you the option to follow any or all of the people that are already a member of twitter. Once you submit the people you want to follow than the next page will list all the people in your email list that is not a member of twitter. You than can choose the people you want to invite to follow you on twitter.

NOTE: It is free to set up email accounts through the above providers. Most email providers have an import/export feature for your email list. If you have any other provider see if you can export your names and save to a file. Create an email account, I have found gmail works best for me when importing, and import your list. Then follow the procedures above.

Now the fun part!

Once you are back to your twitter home page, there is a box to the left with a link to people you are following. There is also a link titled followers. You may click on either link and pull up a list of people. The following page gives a list of the people that may interest you. There will be information on each person that provides you with an idea what their interests are. Twitter lets you know who you are already following on these lists. It gives you the option to follow are block anyone.

People that you find interesting you may click to follow them. Many of us automatically will follow you back. Now go to you're the list of the people you are following. Click on any person that have the same interest and it takes you to their page. Guess what! You can pull up the list of people that are following the person you are interested in. In addition, to the list of people they are following. In a short time you can build thousands of followers using this technique.

At some point, you may want to start deleting people that are not following you. If the people that you are following ever doubles the people that are following you, Twitter, may not allow you to follow anyone else until you start deleting some of the people that you are following.
