Building a Website, and How to Get More Traffic

Frank Pandozzi
Building a website that draws people is not hard to do.

However, don't think that just because you build a website, whether it's for fun or profit, that people will automatically flock to it.

If you're a large corporation that spends thousands of dollars a month in advertising that draws people to your website, that's one thing. However, how many of us can afford the advertising budget that large companies are spending.

Not to worry. You can compete with the big boys, on your terms, and budget. You can get droves of people to your site without breaking the bank. Below, are two keys to getting traffic to your website.

First, you need the right keywords.

Search engines find websites by the use of keywords. They rank your website and it's pages by both keywords, and the amount of traffic to your site. Of course, people use the keywords in search engines to locate websites that utilize those keywords.

Second, you need the traffic to your website, not only to make money if this is a business site, but also because as more and more people visit your website, through those keyword searches, more and more search engines will also find you. A search engine finding your site is important. The more search engines locating your website, means people who use those particular search engines, will find your site. The more traffic your site gets, the higher in the page ranking your website will be listed.

Large companies take care of both keywords and traffic by buying their position in the search engines with advertising dollars.

To get the keywords you want to use, do a search for the keyword you would like to have, and of course what people are using in their searches. Wordtracker.com is a useful tool that can help you find successful keywords.

Of course, if you pick the right keyword, in time, the traffic will automatically increase because of proper keyword utilization. It takes time for the search engines to find your website, and to list you on their search results pages. Your not going to get the traffic until this happens.

It is also important that you build keyword intensive pages within your website. The more keyword pages you have, the quicker your website will be indexed into the search engines. The search engines will have more of your key words to work with, thus making it easier for your website to be found.

These keyword pages act like magnets that attract more people to your homepage. Thus, it makes it easier for people to find your website through their search results.

Building a website the correct way, is a time intensive procedure, but the more keyword focused pages you build, the more attention your site will receive from the search engines, and the more attention you receive from those search engines, the more traffic will come to your website.
