Bulky Contacts: CIBA Vision Night & Day Contact Lenses

CIBA Vision Focus Night & Day Review

Carolyn Foster
I am blind as a bat without my glasses or contact lenses. I cannot even see my alarm clock or my daughter's face without having her an inch away from me. Everything is so blurry that I do not recognize people. I have worn glasses since I was ten-years-old and I have worn contact lenses regularly for about 14 years. When I was a teenager, I remember begging for contacts and was told no until my 17th birthday. Of course back then, hard contacts were usually bought. I had the hardest time getting them in, taking them out, and cleaning them. So I went back to glasses for a while. A friend was telling me about soft contact lenses and how she could not even feel them, that she would forget about wearing the contacts. This sounded perfect so I made an appointment and went in to get some. Since then, I have worn soft contact lenses. Brands have never been that important to me, comfort really is.

Since having a child, long wearing times come into play too. I was introduced to overnight soft contact lenses when I complained to my doctor that I could not see my child in the middle of the night and my glasses were not cutting it. My glasses had/have started making me feel woozy and sick. So I rarely wear my glasses any more, unless I have the rare eye infection and just cannot put my contacts in. I have been wearing different brands of overnight contact lenses for almost six years.

CIBA Vision Focus Night & Day Contact Lenses was one of the contact lenses recommended to me by my doctor. It was newly on the market and he thought this would be the best contacts for me since I do wear my contacts daily, and at night. I was given a sample pair to try out. Out of all the contacts that I have ever worn or tried from sample pairs, this has to be the worst one for me. They felt bulky and thick in my eyes, and I could not stand them. The doctor suggested that I continue wearing them to see if I forgot about them in my eyes and the discomfort would stop. I left them in as long as I possibly could but finally could not stand it any longer and took them out later that evening. I really wanted these to work for me so I did put them back in the next day and wore them as long as possible again. I did that for the entire month and never could wear them over six hours at a time.

These contact lenses called Night & Day Contact Lenses were just too uncomfortable in my eyes. It felt like I had a piece of plastic in my eyes and I kept having to restrain myself from taking them back out. You know how it feels to have an eyelash in your eye? This was much, much worse!! They also were irritating to my eyes and my eyes would turn red. As far as dryness, I did not notice any extra dryness from wearing them. My eyes did feel moist when they were in. The manufacturer states that these contacts will increase tear production. I did not notice any extra tear production for me.

These contacts are marketed as 30 day wear contacts (according to doctor recommendations) so it would save money to have these work for you. It just did not work for me. I never could get used to the thickness and bulky feel of them in my eyes.
