Bullfighting

A Few Lines in Verse on a Sport Most Perverse

Linda Ann Nickerson
"If you can't dazzle them
with brilliance,
baffle them with bull."
W.C. Fields
(1880 - 1946)

These modern-day gladiators
Are audience exhilarators.
They stab the bull, inciting rage,
While people stare at his rampage.

The bullfighters will prance and preen
Until they end this bloody scene.
Still, people throng to catch their breath
For standing-room-only death.

    Good poem, but rough past-time.

Vivid imagery. Also, this reminded me of my son's basketball game last Saturday, one might have found it similar to a bullfight!

    Sad what passes for entertainment.

I could not bring myself to see a bullfight.
