Bumpits and InStyler - Hottest Hair Gadgets for DIY Hair Makeovers

Arene Penelope
From infomercials to retailer shelves, women are witnessing a revolution in the hair care industry as advanced hair gadgets have brought the professional hair salon to the home. The once seen hairdos that were exclusive to celebrities on the red carpet are now accessible to women everywhere. This year, two of the hottest women's hair gadgets are Bumpits and the InStyler. Amazingly, they are empowering women to create do-it-yourself (DIY) hair makeovers as reviewed below.

Bumpits

A personal favorite, Bumpits are phenomenal simple-to-use hair volumizing inserts that transform flat hair to lively hair. They are plastic crown and rectangular-shaped gadgets with tiny grips to stay firmly in place under a section of hair at the crown. Bumpits come in a variety of colors (black, brunette, and blond) and are sold as a kit ranging from the sizes of mini to x-large (Hollywood) to work for various hair lengths and to create a versatility of hair styles. Many of the kits include instructions for creating hair styles ranging from partial updos to French twists. In addition to their publicity in the celebrity world as they are particularly favorited by many of the dancers on Dancing with the Stars, they are popularized by the every-day women in the community who find them comfortable, fabulous, and affordable. Both e-tailers and local retailers (CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens) have them available at an average price of $9.99, and Bumpits may even be ordered through television infomercials at this price.

InStyler

InStyler is a patented hair gadget that has been highly publicized through television infomercials and the Internet. It is designed with a rotating heated cylinder that works with four rows of bristles to straighten and flip wavy and curly hair. InStyler differs from a flat iron or curling iron in that it eliminates excessive heat damage. InStyler does not "press and bake" the hair as a flat iron would. It doesn't require a lot of heat to straighten the hair and comes with three temperature settings. Also, unlike when straightening and flipping hair using a round brush with a hair dryer, when using InStyler the hair does not tangle and break due to the rotating cylinder that glides smoothly over the hair. After this gadget polishes each strand of hair, it creates a silky, bouncy texture. InStyler has been publicized by The View, Fox News, Glamour, People, and Entertainment Television along with infomercials that offer consumers a chance to try it at $14.99 for a 30-day trial.

Especially valuable, both the Bumpits and the InStyler have created a sense of empowerment among women who are now able to create professional hair makeovers on their own. Even more, the affordability of these women's hair gadgets is convenient during these tight financial times when getting a hair makeover at a professional salon is no longer economical for many women.
