Main Review
Developed by an independent game developer, Bumpoid is a 2D game that hopes to compete with the big names in the already thriving industry.
Bumpoid is a unique 3D game. The game's premise is as such: the game takes place in space with the player or character in a space craft. The player's mission is to accumulate as many points as possible before running out of time. Starting off, the player bumps around among the other space crafts, upon bumping into a specific color, the craft takes on that very same color. The object of the game then changes into the player having to bump into the same color every time - this earns the points.
Fun in concept, the game can get dull and unexciting. Repeatedly bumping into colored objects in space can get rather monotonous after about 20 minutes of game play.
The game comes with 99 levels. Now, this would be a lot more fun if there were other incentives involved or other modes available. Simply going through all 99 levels, bumping onto other objects in space to get points can get tedious.
The game, sold at a very decent price, is not entirely terrible. Players can still get some entertainment out of this game as long as they do not go in expecting too much. It is a game more appropriate for the casual, pick-me-up to the game. It is not very engaging at all.
Pricing
The game is available for purchase at the App Store for $2.99.
Conclusion
The game animation and graphics are excellent. Sound quality is also good. Game controls are excellently implemented, providing great character control. Game play, however, can do with some improvement, as with the user interface. The game also has a rather poor replay value. The game comes in with an overall rating of 3 out of 5.
