Burger Buns Review: Wheat Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns

These Hamburger Buns Were Not Hearty Tasting but They Were Good for You

I honestly try and keep things interesting when it comes to my cooking. Lucky for me, I only have to satisfy my two-year-old son and my own taste buds when I make anything. I am very easy to satisfy when it comes to cooking anything because I choose nutrition over taste and because I'm the one who has to make everything, I cut the cook some slack. I am very thankful that my son is not a very picky eater. He pretty much loves every fruit and vegetable that I have offered him and rarely finds a meal that he doesn't care for. Since we are vegetarians, I make a lot of homemade veggie burgers. Recently, I started making black bean veggie burgers on a weekly basis and the last time that I made them I decided that we would indulge and get some hamburger buns in honor of the new kind of veggie burgers. Normally we just eat our veggie burgers with bread, but I got a bag of Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns.

I had tried several loafs from the Wheat Montana company including their Cracked Nine-Grain Bread, Big Sky Wheat Bread, Natural Oats, Wheat and Honey Bread, Montana Multigrain Bread, Potato Buttermilk Bread and High Fiber Flax and Sunflower Breadana Bread. I have also tried their Hot Dog Buns. I was quite fond of the company and wasn't sure why I hadn't gotten around to trying out their Wheat Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns until now. I am sure that this was due to the fact that I didn't get hamburger buns very often. In fact if I recall correctly about the only time this year I got some was once and those were Rudi's Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns. Even though the Wheat Montana ones were not organic I still had hope that they would be good and good for you.

While the veggie burgers were cooking I looked over the nutrition facts and ingredients of the Wheat Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns. The ingredient of the buns were water, Natural White enriched white flour made of barley malt, iron, B vitamins, riboflavin and folic acid, Bronze Chief one hundred percent whole wheat flour, sugar, soy oil, yeast, cultured whey from milk, salt and bran flakes. In each bun there was one hundred and seventy calories with thirty calories from fat. Each bun contained zero milligrams of cholesterol but three hundred and ten milligrams of sodium. The nutrition facts listed carbohydrates with thirty-one grams, fiber with three grams, sugars with four grams and protein with six grams for each bun and the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts listed vitamin A with zero percent, vitamin C with two percent, calcium with six percent and iron with ten percent. Overall I thought that the ingredients and nutrition facts looked nice.

When I pulled out one of the Wheat Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns I thought that they were a nice size. The were the standard size of a patty and top piece was very tall. So tall that it didn't fit into my toaster, but I have difficulties with other things when it came to my toaster so I didn't blame the burger buns for this. In fact I was kind glad to see it because it made me think that the buns would not be too dense. I didn't worry about toasting the buns before eating one and happily made myself and my son a veggie burger. My son is a huge bread fan so I wasn't surprised when I saw that he really, really like the buns. I too thought that they tasted really, really good. They were not hearty or dense and just had a wonderful texture and taste, I was very glad that I had got them.

Even though the bag of buns contained eight buns and was only two dollars I don't know how often I will be getting them. I definitely will keep them in mind for special occasions, as at a quarter a bun they really are a wonderful price and a nice quality. I would happily recommend for anyone to get Wheat Montana Big Sky Wheat Burger Buns for their hamburgers or veggie burgers. Don't let the wheat name fool you, they were not hearty and really, really good with all the goodness that you look for in a hamburger bun.
