Burger King: Dollar Menu vs. Value Meals

This is a Burger King Town

One of my first glimmers of freedom was a pair of Burger King restaurants in opposite directions from my house growing up. On long summer days; while other kids were running around in circles, playing cops and robbers, studying summer school, or learning how to make money, I mapped my way around oft' charted roads which were found anew on foot. I also found the first outlet to my one great weakness; food. While my tastes have obviously matured and I have grown from my double cheeseburger/fried chicken sandwich/Whopper Jr. days, I still make occasion once and a while to dine in the King's Court. Especially lately with my wife and I traveling around the nation, there are often only Burger King locations at remote service stations to choose from. So while I have tried to step up my game in terms of dining quality, there is still occasion.

Burger King Dollar Menu: Backstory: Regardless, I'm back in Danbury Connecticut for my sister-in-law's wedding and I couldn't be any happier to be out of her and my wife's hair for the set-up process. I've also been a much more frugal consumer from my earlier days of excess and splendor; this afternoon found me back at a Burger King nearby our hotel which actually was one of my first freedom Burger Kings. This was the Burger King that my best friend Chris and I used to bike to; it was also the Burger King where my not having chains on my bike got it stolen while I was dining inside. Truth can be a brutal mistress.

Burger King Dollar Menu: Present Day: The Burger King in question brings up a number of interesting things about the nation and its current socio-economic situation. I can't say that I would totally give up Starbucks Coffee altogether but the fact that my wife once again works for the Siren makes the inflated costs of said coffee far easier to bear. I also brown bag it; as it were. Bringing in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich whenever I'm able ($2.50 for a jar of peanut butter, $2.50 for a jar of jelly, and $1.00 or so for whichever style of bread is on sale is a far less expensive option than dining out for lunch daily.)

Burger King Dollar Menu: Lowdown: Still, while we're on the road; sleeping in a hot mid-July car to save money on the hotel expense; there is occasion to hop over to the fast food agenda. Burger King is the preferred dollar menu from my standpoint (not enough variety for lunch and dinner on McDonald's and Taco Bell is a chapter in my life that's closed) and the Burger King dollar menu offers a number of exciting options. The four piece chicken tenders are a really good deal for the cash strapped consumer; double that for a big appetite and couple those with a dollar menu fries and you're good to go. Opt out of the soda; instead ask for a water cup (you should drink more water anyway) and this is a lunch which can take you places.

Burger King Dollar Menu: Wrap-up:There are other food options on the Burger King dollar menu and you should pick an option which works for you. However if you need to save money (as we all do) and you are out on the road and you're feeling the pressure of the Value Meal (which ends up being more food than you need and not really a value at all) stop that automated action and get on the dollar menu train. Taco Bell, McDonald's or Burger King.
