Burger King Menu: Healthiest Fast Food Choices

Jody Morse
While most fast food chains are not known for being very healthy, Burger King is actually known to be one of the least healthy fast food restaurants. Some of their menu items pack an unbelievable amount of calories and fat. This is why it is important to know the nutritional value of what you're ordering ahead of time. Here are some of the healthiest fast food choices at Burger King.

Burgers

When ordering a burger, it's ideal to stay away from double or triple stackers. Consider ordering a Whopper, Jr. without the mayo. It will cash in at 260 calories and 10 grams of total fat. Unlike a Burger King hamburger, which has the same amount of calories and total fat, you'll also be getting lettuce and tomato with this fairly healthy fast food burger. The BK veggie burger is another healthy option. When ordered without mayo, it has 320 calories and 7 grams of total fat.

Chicken Sandwiches

Keep in mind that grilled chicken is generally a healthier option than crispy chicken. If you order the Burger King TenderGrill chicken sandwich without mayo, you'll be consuming 360 calories and 7 grams of total fat. The healthiest crispy chicken sandwich is the BK Spicy Chick 'N Crisp sandwich which, if you order without mayo, has 300 calories and 12 grams of total fat.

Salads

When ordering a fast food garden salad with chicken, keep in mind that grilled is always a healthier option than crispy. The BK TenderGrill garden salad has 300 calories and 10 grams of fat before you add any dressing. You'll add 50 calories and no additional fat when you opt for fat-free Ranch, which is the healthiest salad dressing on the menu.

Sides

A Burger King side salad is a healthier choice than French fries, which have 440 calories and a whopping 20 grams of total fat. If you do choose to go for the side salad, it's important to choose the right dressing. Fat-free Ranch dressing is the healthiest choice - even healthier than light Italian. This dressing will bring your Burger King side salad to 190 calories and 6 grams of total fat.

Making healthy choices at fast food restaurants isn't too difficult if you have an understanding of the calorie and fat intake of the items that you are ordering. Keep in mind that any time you add French fries to your meal, you will be drastically increasing your fat and calorie intake. This is the biggest problem with ordering Burger King's chicken tenders or chicken fries, as many people do not eat them alone. Visit this website for more Burger King nutritional information.
