Burger King Selling Beer Now? What!!!

Now You Can Have a Brewski with Those Fries

Jay-Jamar

Well, if you just happen to be in the south Florida area, you can now get a beer to go with those fries. To boost business, some fast food chains, such as Burger King and Sonic are now offering alcoholic beverages amongst their food items. Yup! Burger King selling beer is no longer a thing of wonder. The new addition to the menu has mixed views. For business owners, the feeling is a positive one, for they feel that if alcohol can boost sales and produce growth for the business, the more the merrier. However, others such as parents say that this is an outrage. There are concerns of these fast food joints losing credibility and becoming distasteful with such a low-down move. Concerns about children being exposed to these nuances come to play and are somewhat deterring regular visitors, rather than boosting sales for businesses.

With these mixed feelings, one may have to ask about the many other restaurants that already serve alcoholic beverages. Although Applebee's and TGI-Fridays are a step up from the traditional fast food restaurants, they are also not considered very upscale restaurants either. Yet these restaurants still serve alcohol to anyone of drinking age. Surely these places are filled with kids every day, as they are exposed to the same worries these parents would have for their children seeing Burger King selling beer. Maybe the only major difference is that there are neither bars nor play areas at these fast food restaurants. Some parents whom visit these step-up restaurants even go as far as visiting the bar for a drink while having their children by their side. This act surely has to raise some eyebrows to the disgruntled parents of Burger King selling beer. However, there is no law prohibiting one's child from simply being a spectator, while mom indulges in a couple of Margaritas. Therefore, what is the big deal, some may ask.

Perhaps it is the tradition of these fast food restaurants, for those raising concerns, that at least these fast food chains are places where there would be no worries of children being exposed to drunks in the conventional manner. Another question may then be; "do f these same parents avoid other restaurants that do harbor alcohol beverages while with their children?" Hard to believe might be the thoughts of many and therefore perceived that these disgruntled parents are mere hypocrites that simply want to gripe over change. Even still, this is no normal change. Places like Burger King selling beer is quite historical actually, for there hasn't been such a drastic move made by a major food chain done in the past.

Ultimately, the question will be; "what will this do for businesses entertaining such actions?" Furthermore, what will the act of Burger King selling beer alongside the fries have on common visitors? Perhaps only time and money will tell.
