Burlap Coffee Bag Curtains

Ann Siper
I love decorating with vintage and new burlap coffee bags. The rough texture and fun coffee themed graphics on these burlap bags make wonderful curtains that work well in a variety of home décor styles.

I would use these burlap coffee bag curtains in an industrial loft, new construction homes in need of visual interest, and even in a retro kitchen design! These burlap coffee bag curtains are a no sew project, so no need for that sewing machine!

To Make Retro Curtains Out of Vintage Burlap Coffee Bags You Will Need:

Vintage burlap coffee bags (or new)

Grommets

Brown or red gross grain ribbon (optional)

Key chain chains

Grommet maker

The first step is to find vintage coffee bags or even new burlap coffee bags is to search online for them. You can find burlap coffee bags online at ebay, Craigslist, and in the classified section of your local newspaper.

Now, the first step to making these industrial curtains is to lay your vintage burlap coffee bags out back side down on the ground.

Make a panel or gird of your bags out to the side you need your retro curtain to be.

Basically start with the top row of coffee bags. Lay out the burlap bags side to side to until the width you need your curtains to be.

Now, start working in rows down until your industrial coffee bag curtain panels are as long as you need.

Now, in each corner where the vintage burlap coffee bags touch you need to install a grommet.

Use your grommet make and install each grommet about 1 to 2 inches in from the edge. Do not install the grommets too close to the edge.

If you vintage coffee bags are large, you may need to place more grommets in the middle sides of the bags. You be the judge. This will also give you more privacy.

By the way, if you live in a loft, this industrial looking vintage coffee bag curtain also makes great moveable walls you can hang on a track system!

Now, once al of your grommets have been installed on the retro curtain panel you need to hook the rectangles of vintage burlap nags together.

You have a few options here as you can imagine. I think it looks so cool to assemble your coffee bag curtains using those little metal key chain rings, you know the beaded kind!

You can buy bags of these at the craft store for super cheap. They are the perfect way to carry on the silver look you have in the grommets!

Hang your vintage coffee bag curtains with café clips and you are finished!
