How long has it been since your last sack race? Remember how clumsy you were, or was it your partner, as you raced for the finish line? Whether you won or lost, you probably ended up falling on the ground laughing until your sides hurt. Now you can experience that again.

On July 3rd at Burlington City Park, a celebration of Independence Day will begin at 6pm with the Magnificents taking the stage. While listening to this talented group of musicians play your favorites, you can search for coins in the haystack, participate in a watermelon-eating contest or dodge a few water balloons. And let's not forget the carnivalesque concessions. Why, what would a summer celebration be without an ice cold snowcone and some fluffy pink cotton candy?

Come ride the Dentzel carousel and take a tour of the park on the train with your kids. Don't be surprised if the train's passengers scream as you're going through the tunnel!

Round about 9:15, just as it begins to get dark, it'll be time to make your way toward the ball field where the Company Shops Band will take the stage. As the fireworks go off, the Band will perform a patriotic medley worthy of any 4th celebration.

Step back in time and enjoy an evening of music and family fun, July 3rd in the Park. It's the place to be!

This event is sponsored by MidCarolina Bank and the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department. Burlington City Park is located on South Church Street, one mile from the downtown area. For more information, call 336-222-5030 or email recreation@ci.burlington.nc.us. This event is free for all ages.
