Burn Notice Recap 02/25/10: "Good Intentions"

Synopsis:Fiona seems to get more than she bargained for when she becomes involved with a paranoid kidnapper, only to discover that he's more than what he appears.

Michael is spending a lot of time dealing with Gilroy even though he is really trying to turn on him. Sam believes that Gilroy may be wise to Michael's intentions so of course he's playing safety, but that backfires as always too.

Gilroy does lead his "partner" on a simple cash for gun trade, but Michael ends up being the decoy for Gilroy to steal the gun and has to of course get himself out of the mess. Luckily he does and the partnership made in Heaven (?) is still intact. At least for now until Michael can get the FBI some hard evidence so they can catch Gilroy.

Fiona has partnered up with a harmless weasel named Coleman that is offering her a mere $20K to do a job she knows nothing about. That is until she meets with the big boss named Gabriel who wants to put Fiona through a few tests first before fully trusting her. Good thing Michael isn't busy either because he can help keep an eye on her with Sam since this Gabriel guy is turning into a pretty shrewd character.

Once the guy finally trusts her, that doesn't mean things are all safe and sound for Fiona, but Michael is too anxious so Sam sends him off to meet Gilroy again. Little does Michael know though that Gilroy has his partner's next assignment matched up with someone from his past. Onto the restaurant though where the evening is supposed to commence with Fiona taking out Gabriel's next target. A little help from Michael though and trust becomes an issue once more and Fiona is still having to fend on her own before it all goes up in smoke.

Quite the interesting episode that saw a bit of a split story as Michael dealt with his shady guy in Gilroy and Fiona dealt with hers in Gabriel. I kind of liked seeing Fiona get her own bit to do all by herself. Sure you can say that she had her boys right there at all times watching her back, but there were even moments they held back to let her handle the deal in her ways. In some ways, it was also kind of a distraction from the true story at hand here which is Michael's partnership with Gilroy.

Putting that storyline on the back burner makes the final five minutes of this episode more than worth it because you won't believe what happens as we lead up to next week's season finale. Spoilers have already been announced here so the fact that Simon is back even overshadows the fact that he just blew Gabriel up. It's going to be one hell of a final episode to this season and it can't get here soon enough.
