Burnout 5 Blazes onto Playstation 3 and Xbox 360
EA and Criterion Brings the Fourth Racing Sequel in as Many Years to Next-gen Systems
The discerning racer fan knows that if you want something besides the usual sim or arcade style racing game, the Burnout series is where to go. Known for its insane and satisfying crashes and speed, Burnout has been impressing gamers across all platforms since its release in 2001. In a press release today, EA revealed that developer Criterion is attempting a total revamping of the series with its next installment due in 2007 for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Alex Ward, Criterion's director of design, says in the release, "Burnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom." Burnout 5 will set players loose in a seamless environment called Paradise City. As of now, there is no word on whether or not a version of Burnout 5 will appear on the Nintendo Wii but given the franchise's support of Nintendo in the past, hopefully Nintendo fan's will get some Burnout down the road.
