Burt's Bees Lemon PoppySeed Facial Cleanser

Lemony Freshness That's Good for All Skin Types

Cindy Leggett
When I first received my package from drugstore.com containing the order of Burt's Bees products that I was trying for the first time, I will admit that I was not too impressed with the jar of Lemon Poppy Seed Facial Cleanser. The jar seemed to be a bit small for its over $8.00 price tag. Also, the jar was made of glass! That was a bit of a surprise to me, and it meant I would need to keep it from being used by all the members of my family unless it was transferred into a plastic container. Glass containers so easily slip from hands both young and old, and I do wish that Burt's Bees would consider using alternate packaging for some of their products to make them a bit safer.

But, I'm not writing here today to discuss the perils of slippery glass bottles in the bathrooms of America. Those of you who are reading this are probably already aware that glass can be potentially dangerous. What you probably aren't aware of is that Burt's Bees has come up with yet another winner in this fresh-smelling product. It's a bit hard to locate in my area, which was the reason for ordering it online. It's just new and different enough to me that nothing else can quite take its place as a natural cleanser in my daily routine, so I have made sure of a steady suppliy by having "time to reorder" reminders emailed to me periodically. Yes, it's that good!

Just what is this Lemon PoppySeed Cleanser? As the name tells you, it's very lemony due to the additions of both lemon water and lemon oil to its ingredients. It's also the soft yellow color one would associate with anything lemon scented. It truly looks good enough to eat! Sprinkled throughout this lemony goodness is a plethora of poppyseeds, which show up nicely, as they are black in color. These seeds are meant to add some abrasiveness to the cream, which makes for a nice facial scrub as well as a moisturizing treat for your face.

This cleansing cream does a really nice job of cleansing the skin. You can use it one of two ways, depending on how much moisture you want left behind on your face. You can simply use your fingertips to scoop up some of the cleanser, rubbing it on your face gently, then rinsing with clear water and toweling the skin dry. You'll find that a very light layer of moisturization has been left behind on your skin. Or, if you would prefer less moisture and more of a lemony clean feeling, just use a washcloth to cleanse with. The cloth will take up more of the cleanser and leave you feeling squeaky clean, but just moisturized enough.

This moisture is one of the best parts of the entire product. It seems to be just enough moisturizer, even for oily skin. It has made quite a visible difference in my skin. Remember, even oily skin needs moisture, so before you tell yourself you don't need a cleanser that leaves behind moisture, do try Burt's Bees Lemon Poppyseed Cleanser. You will be pleasantly surprised!
