Burt's Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar

It May Look Funny, but it Works Great!

I am a big fan of Burt's Bees peppermint lip balm, and I recently decided I was going to experiment with other products made by this company in the hopes of finding more personal care items made only with natural ingredients. First on my list was Burt's Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar with Oat Protein and Vitamin B5.

The ingredients in this 3.5 ounce shampoo bar are all natural and vegetable based. In fact, it's so safe that when my Rat Terrier actually ATE a bar, it did not hurt him in the least. Once I read the list of ingredients to my vet, she assured me it could do him no harm. If it's so pure that an animal can eat it, it would be suitable for the most delicate hair and skin.

Rosemary oil and rosemary leaf give it a pleasing herbal scent. Avocado, peppermint, and coconut oil add moisture to the hair. Yucca was used by the Native American Indians for centuries, so I was pleased to see this as an ingredient.. Oat protein is known to condition and stimulate a healthy scalp I really liked the idea of a bar shampoo, figuring it would last longer in a household with a teenager whose hobby seems to be washing his hair! So far, this seems to be true. One full sized bar of this shampoo lasts at least three weeks, and with a family of five people using it daily, that's saying a lot! To use, simply rub the shampoo bar over your head to work up a lather. I have found that this shampoo seems to work better on short to medium length hair.

My hair is short and naturally curly, so it seemed well suited to this product. The first thing I noticed was the appearance of the bar. It's a very dark green color and you would think it was a regular bar of soap. Next was the lovely rosemary and mint scent that surrounded me in the shower as I rubbed it on my hair as directed. The shampoo lathers really well, and an unadvertised benefit is that it seems to be wonderful at removing any build up of styling products from the hair. No conditioner is needed, which was surprising. My hair was amazingly soft and had tremendous body, and felt cleaner than it has in years. The great smell stays with your hair for the rest of the day... I actually had people ask me what cologne I was wearing... and I wasn't wearing any!

I also found that, though not meant to be, the shampoo bar is excellent for use as a bar soap. It leaves the skin feeling as healthy and soft as it does the hair.

What a convenient product this is! Pure and safe natural ingredients, great smell, long lasting, and no spill, plus one product for shampoo/conditioner/soap. It will be perfect for traveling as I won't have to pack conditioner or bath soap. And the box it comes in is recyclable! I'm well pleased with the results of my shampoo experiment, and plan to continue to buy this shampoo for myself and my family.
