Deadly Bus accident kills 6, in Atlanta Georgia:

They were from Ohio. They were a baseball team, traveling to Florida to compete against another team. It was early in the morning. Some of the kids were sleeping on the bus. The bus driver couldn't see to far ahead of him. He was traveling on a major high way in Atlanta, Georgia. They were traveling down the highway and going at the right speed. The team members woke up to hearing the bus driver's wife screaming. They had just switched drivers, about 1 1/2 hrs before. Their was an overpass and their should of been an exit sign, stating that their was a dangerous curve ahead. Not knowing which lane he should be in, the driver drove straight ahead. He went into an small barrier and flipped over and right off the overpass, to the road below. The bus hit the pickup truck in the rear of the truck.

The students were terrified. It appeared to being happening in slow motion. The players were thrown all over the seat, banging their heads, and breaking bones. Getting black eyes, broken backs, and injuries of all kind. The players were a Christian group of boys, traveling to Florida. The horror that they felt, is beyond words. The fear and terror that they will remember for a lifetime. Some of the kids did escape and some were brothers. The screams were very frightening. Not knowing what exactly was happening. They didn't have time to protect themselves. There really wasn't much protection for those boys. The coach also died as well as 3 other players. The driver and his wife, which were also on the bus, died as well. The one boys back was broken and his vertebrae. I only hope that his back will knit back together. A broken back is a painful injury. It took 6 hours of extensive surgery to try and correct the injuries. He is even very lucky to be alive and able to talk. I only hope that he will completely recover from the extensive trauma. This terrible accident will leave it's mark for a lifetime. They will probably all be terrified to ride anywhere in a car or bus. The boys also lost some of their best friends. Friends they have known since they were kids. That is hard enough to deal with. The tears are just coming down, at the terrible suffering of these boys.

You know, I think it is time that our school buses have seat belts, to help protect our kids, while on the road. If you get caught without your son in a seat beat, they will throw the book at you. Yet every single day, the kids ride on the bus, and travel back and forth to school. Several school buses have had accidents. Do they screen these drivers? Do they make them retake their driving test every few years. Are they able to see clearly? Something has to be done about this.

My stepfather was a school bus driver, and he was very cautious. And thank God, he was a skilled driver. I just pray for these drivers, that they can drive safely with all the noise on the local school buses. I pray that the kids, don't smoke drugs on the bus. Because if they do, the drivers judgment is impaired. The kids throw things out the school bus windows, and stand up while the bus driver is trying to drive. And it concerns me that he is expected to drive, and keep his eyes on the road while the kids are in the back beating up one another.

However, this isn't the case in this bus. Most of the kids were sleeping and quiet, because the others were very tired. It was a very tiring ride, and ended in tragedy. A terrible tragedy, that can't ever be undone. Pray one for another.

I agree that they should have seat belts. Why do they think our kids are less important on the way to school. When you see your child of any age climb on the bus you trust that they are safe.ALL transportation should require it.
