Megabus is a Low Cost Travel Option for Students and Families
I was able to buy a $3.00 ticket and ride on the Megabus just after the service started here. Since that trip people have been asking me about the bus stops for Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. This article covers all 4 stops on the route.
Knoxville Area Transit Center
Bus stop
This bus stop is in front of the new mult-million dollar Knoxville Transit Center. Metered street parking is available in front of the main entrance on Church Avenue.
If you need to leave a car nearby you can make special parking arrangements. Contact the Knoxville Coliseum across the street from the transit center ahead of time. Otherwise, visitors can pick up a bus schedule and catch the K-Trans bus on the upper level of the center.
A deli is open during limited hours at this one of the bus stops for Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. Vending machines are also available. Restaurants on Cumberland Ave. a few miles away are your best bet for food. Bathrooms are available inside the transit center.
Grahams Forge, VA
Break stop
At about half an hour, this is the longest of the bus stops Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. It's a Love's Truck stop with a good size parking lot. You can buy convenience items or get food from Subway or Chester's Chicken.
Christiansburg, VA
Bus stop
This park and ride lot is the shortest of the bus stops for Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. You will only be here long enough to allow passengers to board or exit. Bathrooms (other than the bus) and restaurants are not close by. From Knoxville, this is the last stop before you get to Washington.
Washington, D.C.
Bus stop
This is in a large parking lot in the heart of the city. It is by far the busiest of the stops bus stops for Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. Several bus companies pick up and drop off here and it is the only place on the route where you can wait under a covered awning.
Figuring out where Megabus is in the lot can be a bit confusing. The best way that I can describe it is that the bus stop is in the parking lot on the across the street from Starbucks on 9th St. in downtown D.C. Staff members will direct you to the right line once you walk up to the boarding area.
The nearest hotels that I saw are the Embassy Suites and the Renaissance Hotel. The nearest quick food is the Starbucks above and the Five Guys Burgers and Fries on H Street.
For bathrooms at this one of the bus stops for Megabus from Knoxville to Washington, D.C., try the Starbucks. In addition to the sandwiches they sell a little bit of coffee too.
