Taste and Preparation:
You can make these a few different ways. I prefer to put them in a pot and boil them on top of the stove. Make sure you keep mixing them or else they will definitely burn on the bottom and your pot will be ruined. Another way to cook them would be to make them in the microwave. Make sure you put them in a microwave safe container. Cover them or else they will splat all over. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir and serve. Another way that I don't really do is to put them in a regular oven. You can empty the can into a saucepan. Here again, only cook them for a few minutes or they will burn. This may sound weird but I like to add a little ketchup to my baked beans. My husband seems to like when I do that too. It gives the beans a little added flavor and an extra kick. With the Bush country beans, I don't have to add as much ketchup as I used to have to with the Heinz beans. The country beans have a brown sugar taste to them. They are sweet but not as sweet as the maple ones that Bush makes. Those are way too sweet for me. The country style has a brown sugar mixed with a smoked bacon flavor. They are 98% fat free that makes this a healthy side dish. It is also a great source of fiber. You can buy them in a can or in a microwavable tub. Those are convenient if you only want to make enough for one person to eat. Sometimes I am not in the mood for beans but my husband is. So, I'll just pop one of the microwavable ones in for a minute. Extremely easy and convenient. That's how I like to cook.
