The Role of Associate Staff in Business Ethics Presentation

TK
Subordinate staffs are the low ranked employees in an organization. The word 'sub' in this contest means less and its use to describe how employees are ranked in an organization has been debated and has raised issues of concern to employee rights. In order to create a neutral perception, often junior staffs are referred to as 'associate staff'. The word 'associates' is morally instigated to create a feeling of respect within the junior staff. Associate staffs are the 'driving force' in an organization. To maintain a working team in a company, there is need to instill a comprehensive and accommodating ethical code of conduct. Areas of moral ethics practices in a company by the associates include;

Conduct with clients

The internal customer interacts with the clients directly or indirectly. They should display acceptable moral behaviors. When interacting with clients, the associates should be cautious not to over indulge in immoral behaviors. In communication, the staff should avoid discussing irrelevant issues other than business oriented conversations. Private company information should not be discussed with clients. Only business related subjects should be dwelled on. The language should be professional. Dress code must be within the acceptable standards defined by the company. Unsound business ethics portrayed by the junior staff may drive away the clients.

Conduct with workmates

Associates have to maintain a code of conduct governed by respect and discipline. Incidents of molestation of workers create a poor work environment and a bad image for the company. Sexual abuse and harassment of female workers also depicts unwarranted behavior which should be warded off.

Property care

Misuse of company property can adversely increase the cost of operations hence straining the financial budget. Associates should be custodians of the property of an organization. They should develop a sense of responsibility. In order to nurture this responsibility, the associate staff should perceive the company as their own property. Whenever staff detaches themselves from the perceptional ownership of a company, there is irresponsibility in property care. Misplaced equipments should be kept to the right place. Equipment breakdown should be reported to the supervisor in time so that the necessary repair work can be organized. Employees should also report cases of smuggling and theft of company property by other staff.

Problem solving

Whenever a problem arises, the associate should inform the management in a decent and respectful manner. Incitement and senseless talks must be avoided. The management must show maturity, respect, and accountability as well as recognition to the workers whenever a problem arises. An 'open door' discussion can be initiated as a strategy to handle employee complaints.
