Manager's Role in the Execution of Company's Ethical Code of Conduct

TK
The management system in an organization plays a major role in the presentation of the business ethics. It provides a viable working environment for its employees to deliver to the optimum. Ethical standards put in place determine the performance of the workers. Some of the areas that require articulate moral and ethical definitions by the management are;

Authority execution

Whereas authority is perceived as a governance tool in initiating performance in an organization, its misuse can be undermining to the management. For instance, authority execution in a military training camp may not be applied same way as in a hotel establishment. Insults, shouting, and harassment are subjects of authority execution that demoralize staff.

Delegation of power and authority

When delegating, the systems and channels used should be ethically correct. For instance, a manager should delegate to the immediate supervisor. However, when the supervisor is overlooked and a subordinate delegated authority, this creates an unethical subject and results to conflicts. Where such unethical delegation of power and authority is carried out, the management fails in its role to honor and respect the principles of management. The result is a downfall of the system of management and overall company performance.

Decision making

The management arm has the mandate to make decisions and implement them. Moreover, decisions are wisely devised when different players are involved in the decision making process. A management system that does not consult the subordinates usually makes wrong and ineffective decisions. However, some decisions require the exclusion of the subordinate because of the underlying privacy policies and thus do not require the involvement of associate staff. They are purely managerial decisions.

Personal affairs

Management staff must be in the forefront when practicing ethical morals within an organization. It should desist from personal affairs and relationships while at work place. As a role model, the management ought to instill the most acceptable code of ethical conducts. If the seniors, for instance indulge in love affairs while at work, the subordinates fall into the same trap. This may result to lack of concentration in production. In other cases, it may lead to unethical social behaviors in the office.

Administrative duties

When executing administrative duties, the management should exercise sound ethics. Staff training must be done based on the needs of the worker but not on personal interests or relations. All employee matters should be handled equally with honesty, authenticy, trust and respect. Relatives of senior employees should not be accorded much attention than the rest of the workers when administrative issues are being tackled. Selection of staff to undergo on job training for instance should not be influenced by personal relationships.
