If you have ever spent anytime looking through podcasts you will find that there are some really good ones and some really bad ones. I have spent countless hours going through podcasts for small business owners and wanted to share some of the best ones with you.
Small Business Podcasts - Internet Business Mastery
This is my favorite small business podcasts. It focuses mainly on running an internet based business, but they cover a lot of aspects of small business that every entrepreneur should know. The show is hosted by two individuals and has a very laidback format.
These small business owners spend some time talking about their own small businesses and what they have been working on. Don't worry, it's not a sales pitch. In fact they don't do much shameless self promotion at all. What I really like about this small business podcast is that they come up with their own content based on issues they have had, experiences, and things they have learned.
It is a very professional sounding podcast and well put together. There is also a log to compliment each podcast. That way if they mention links, software, books, etc you can go to the blog to find them.
Small Business Podcasts - The great big small business show
Due to a family medical situation this blog is no longer being updated. I am putting it on the list of great small business podcasts because it is still a really excellent podcast. There are 15 episodes to date that you can still download on the website or in iTunes.
Each podcast usually has a theme. The show is then divided into sections and each section is hosted by a guest host. The hosts all come from different types of small businesses and they share a wide array of tips and advice on the subject. This is a neat idea because it gets you so many points of view on one topic.
This is a very professional grade busniess podcast. Some of the hosts lack good podcasting equipment so there is a variety of sound quality, but it is nothing to distracting.
The podcasts also has a blog where you can check show links and learn more about the hosts.
Small Business Podcasts - Small Business Podcast.com
Clever name for a small business podcast! This is a good podcast geared toward small business owner. Most of the shows are interviews with other small business owners or experts in the field. Usually someone like an author who has written a small business book.
The show format is nice. There is a bit of an introduction about what the show is about. Then you learn a little bit about the shows guest. Then you get down to the dirt. For example, in one episode they interviewed Donna Fenn, author of Alpha Dogs: How Your Small Business can become the Leader of the Pack. In the podcast the talked about her eight strategies for success provide a great "road map" for any small business.
As with the other two small business podcasts, there is also a blog that lets you catch up on show links and find out more about the guest.
One thing I have noticed about this small business podcast is that they offer advertising. Usually advertising in a podcast is nothing more than a short commercial right at the beginning. The same is true with this business podcast. There are short product mentions by the host at the beginning and end of the show. Ads will also show up on your iPod when the product is mentioned.
