Business Review: Buck's Automotive Service Center, Tucson, Arizona
The Buck Stops at Buck's Automotive
Tucson, AZ 85719
United States of America
We began saving money on our automotive care, as new Buck's Automotive Service customers a decade ago. Buck's staff quickly noted we could save more money on all our auto maintenance and repair, simply by joining American Automobile Association, better known as AAA. They explained to us that membership is particularly helpful to owners of older vehicles, such as ourselves. We were unaware how quickly the AAA membership paid for itself, in car care alone, never mind all the other discounts AAA avails to its members. Because of Buck's AAA testimony, our automotive repair bills are lowered by $4 to $40 per visit. Furthermore, we easily save at least $200 per year on leisure services like restaurant, lodging, and amusement parks. With an annual basic membership cost of around $35, AAA is another new friend in our circle, thanks to Buck's Automotive Service Center.
Buck's Automotive Service Center is an all-inclusive automotive maintenance service center. Buck's has kept vehicles purring safely in the Tucson Basin for well over twenty years. From a simple oil change to a complicated engine overhaul or anything in between, Buck's finds the correct parts at the best prices and expertly repairs or replaces only what the vehicle requires.
Detail is a most serious matter with vehicular safety. Buck's service writers and mechanics pay attention to detail. Our family often travels 4-wheel drive roads in the Chirichahua and Catalina Mountains of Southern Arizona. If our 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4-wheel drive truck has a cracked belt, or worn brake pads, a weekend in the Sonoran Desert area mountains could be tragic. We count on Buck's Automotive Service Center to keep our truck in top condition, so our truck is ready to play safely.
Buck's staff works hard to help customers save money in the long run. They know their products, when brands matter, and treat customers as knowledgeable humans in discussing their vehicle repair needs. Buck's staff consider the car's age, when recommending parts and services. The air conditioner in our 1988 Honda Accord developed a slow leak, and twice in the last twelve months here in the desert, we had Buck's recharge it. Both times, we discussed the option of replacing the costly leaking part, as well as the choice of recharging. What is their final recommendation? Simply said, we drove it off the new car lot twenty years ago, and 200,000 miles later it's still purring, although other coming -of-age repair costs are soon inevitable. She's a good old car, and Buck's takes great care of her, but they also remind us that nothing lasts forever, and we are getting to a point where we will need to decide how much is too much to invest in keeping this old car. Buck's Automotive Service Center is not in business to sell new cars, but they are candid. For now, the latest recharge is holding fine, and we're considering our options in the long-term.
Buck's staff is thoughtful, honest and careful. They never hesitate to offer free shuttle service. Should the customer prefer to wait, Buck's provides a quiet waiting room for comfort. We have availed ourselves of both their shuttle and their waiting room, and will continue as often as necessary. If the vehicle needs to stay overnight, we are not concerned, because all vehicles are secured behind high security fencing. Nothing is left out on the street side lot overnight at Buck's Automotive Service Center.
If their schedule is tight, we need look no further than Buck's River Road Exxon, at 4851 North 1st Avenue. Buck's River Road Exxon gas station and auto service center fills the need effectively and efficiently, with AAA discounts, and customer service care, including free shuttle. It is located only about a mile north of Buck's Automotive Service Center, and the similar name is no coincidence. Buck's River Road remains owned and operated about thirty years by the same proprietor of Buck's Automotive Service Center. Buck's River Road rates equally high with Buck's Automotive Service Center, because the proprietor makes his expectations and professionalism plain and clear. There is no reason to believe his business standards vary only a few blocks up 1st Avenue.

Post a CommentI just want to thank Buck and his staff for taking care of My customer, Susie was very, very satisfied, she said the truck runs better than it ever has (Thanks Paul), she was satisfied with the service, price, and most of all the friendly and informative staff, Thank You, you guys are great.
Great review - I wish we had reviews like this for my area.
ANDY: They're good people not out to do a sloppy job, but like with all us humans, mistakes can happen. I'm sorry your first visit was a rough experience, but glad to learn you and Buck communicated further to resolve the issues. Thank you for sharing the good news.
Buck called me to resolve my problems. I didn't know there was an owner who was accessible and/or willing to talk to customers.
I am mostly disappointed. It is so hard to find a place to trust and this was my first visit to Buck's after reading all the good reviews.
What I didn't mention before is that they initially tried to deny they were anywhere near the horn, which is right next to the radiator they replaced...
I guess I go back to the Jeep Dealership and pay their high prices. :(
In May 2009, I was in a rural area (about 100 miles from Buck's) with only one mechanic nearby who did not find a problem, even though and ear-splitting screeching got worse and worse the faster the car went. Calling Buck's to explain 'symptoms' long distance, they checked the car's maintenance record for anything that might be causing this sound. Finding everything up to date (yes, brake pads, etc too) told me it was likely safe to drive, as previous mechanic said, suggesting I stop in as I got to town. The screeching announced the car before it was in sight at the U.S. Border Patrol check-point. They all laughed as I drove up. I got to Buck's safely and 30 minutes later, they called (also laughing). The terrible noise was just a tiny pebble lodged in wheel/brake area. They saved it for me, so I could see how "nicely polished" it was by the miles of travel. It did no harm to the car whatsoever. No related issues in the yr since. NO CHARGE to rescue pebble.
Andy - I would insist on speaking with "Buck" himself - the owner after that omission and non-courtesy at this and any business where they have received a good chunk of my hard earned $$$. This company is also a AAA member - Reporting the incident to AAA would be a good idea, considering your experience.
After replacing my radiator they forgot to reconnect the horn! We didn't find out until we were in Oklahoma two days later in a dangerous situation.
When I called they didn't even apologize until I asked for an apology!
Dear "Unhappy" ~ Your experience there is unfortunate indeed - I can only speak for my own experience with them, which is consistent, fair, performance of repairs only authorized by my household over our 10 years of service with them. Truly, I do not recall 1 instance when Buck's 'forgot' to call us regarding authorization of services - and of course there is the service agreement which states the list of things I agree to upfront, which must be signed by me before I even leave the car to be serviced... In fact, I have even had them call me on more than one occasion to say "Come get your car. We can't find anything wrong with it - no charge." How many auto service businesses are THAT honest?! I am truly sorry you had a bad experience, and I wish you well wherever you take your vehicle to be serviced. Let me know if you find one LIKE Buck's that honestly finds nothing wrong with your vehicle - and I might go if I can't get into Buck's one day - It's always good to have a backup :-)
Bucks Auto Service is full of Shysters! They preform services on customers cars that were not authorized. They do not keep to their own code of business ethics as posted on their website. I WILL never again recommend their business to anyone, EVER! I have made that mistake.
