Business in Second Life IV

How to Obtain Employees

Catherine Neal
Most retail stores in Second Life sell the products themself. Usually all a person has to do is advertise the product and people will come. It's the old movie quote "Build it and they will come" Most business hired employees because they need an event host, dancers, escorts, sales representatives and marketing teams. This article will show you how to place a classified ad in Second Life and obtain quality people for your store.

Need For Managers
Is there need for managers in Second Life? Definately! Especially if you are a business that hosts events, has dancers, has escorts, and is a large location. A business also needs Managers to filter any questions that customers may have. I have seen the need for a Manager for those who are selling land or renting locations. As I have searched for land in Second Life to place my own business, I always have had questions and never found someone to assist me.

Applications and Background Checks
Just as any business, owners should perform a background check on possible employees. Have the applicant fill out a small applications and speak to them about what they have done in Second Life. For example, I am able to tell future Second Life employers that I have been a photographer, dancer, event host, and company representative during the four months that I have been in Second Life. I have references listed on notecards for future employers, so that they are able to contact the people I have worked with and served as customers. You can find out how to do a notecard in Second Life through my article "How to do things in Second Life"

Classified Ads
Classified ads are actually really easy in Second Life and they are free. You can place an application box and "We're Hiring" sign at your business location in Second Life. The applicant will fill out the application and then return it to you. The applications will show up as notecards in your inventory.

You will also want to place an ad on the Second Life forums. The forums can be found at this url:

You will want to post a little about your company, the type of person that you would like to hire and a way to contact you. You will also want to write a little comment on payment for services. Most people tell the applicants to fill out an application or contact them by Instant Message while they are on Second Life.

As you can see, finding employees are three easy steps. If you follow the steps and know what you are looking for, you will find the right employee.
