1. Book your accommodation in advance. There are lots of business travel agents out there, and lots of places to stay when you travel for business, be it in the city center, or just outside the city center, so, you should have no excuse as to why you cannot book your accommodation in advance and save your self some money in the process.
2. Have some fun. Just because you are on a business trip, it doesn't mean that you cannot explore the town at night, and see what it has to offer.
3. Plan your trip out. To get the most productive and worthwhile trip you need to plan what you are going to do each an every day of your business trip, remember that saying, fail to plan and you plan to fail.
4. Mingle with the locals. Getting the most out of your business trip could involve getting to know local cultures, which could end up enhancing your experience and even lead you to new contacts.
5. Book your travel arrangements as early as you can. Booking any type of travel, from air to train in advance will save you time, hassle and stress.
6. Get a tour guide. Try to get someone local to show you the way around. Whether you speak to passers by on the street or to the hotel receptionist, try to find your feet as soon as your feet touch the ground, this way you will be utilizing every moment of your trip.
7. Find out about the area you are visiting for business. How do people within the area do business?
8. Budget. Always have a budget for your business trip in place. Not knowing how much you can or want to spend is a recipe for disaster.
9. Pack Light. You are not going on a summer vacation, so there is no need to take the sun cream and lots of different outfit changes. Take a suitcase or bag that is lightweight and easy to pack.
10. Consider getting insurance. If you are traveling out of state or out of town on business then consider getting travel insurance or similar, as you never know when you might need it.
