The type of suitcase that you take along would depend also on how long you are going to be gone. The suitcase can be hard sided or soft sided but wheels are necessary for getting in and out of the airport's terminal as quickly as possible. What you pack is as important as how you pack; take just the essentials with you. Lay every item out on your bed that you think you will need, and then try to cut that amount in half, concentrate on the basics. The must haves would be your business suit, underwear and something casual if the is room left over add a business suit coat, but remember pack light. You have made your final choices and now its time to pack.
When rolling your dress shirts fold the arms into the back start from the bottom and roll tightly up to the collar, put the dress shirts in last at the top to prevent wrinkling. Your suit pants and casual wear pants lay them flat on the bed and start rolling from the bottom of the pants. Use your shoes to hold your underwear and socks to save space.
Make a schedule of travel times remember to include time zone changes and if possible start your meeting an hour after your arrival time. Allow for plenty of time to get into and through the airport at both ends of your flight. Before you leave check the weather forecast at you destination this will help you pack and it will give you an idea about how soon you must arrive to be able to get to the meeting on time.
Getting caught in a rainstorm, arriving late and wet, does not get the meeting off on the right foot. If your travels take you over seas you can buy the adapter plugs as a package for you electric razor and to recharge your PDA and your Blackberry. Technology is great, but if they crash or worse get lost it is best to have a backup of all the important names and numbers on index cards. Once you are at your hotel, it should be possible to adjust your body clock and your watch to the local time. Ideally, on over seas trips you can arrive one day ahead of your scheduled meeting. If your travels include multiple stops, try to get the time zones to work in your favor by scheduling with the time zones going east to west.
Plan your business trip as you would a business plan use a checklist and try to take as much stress out of the trip as you can.
