But She Already Knew

Scott Bauer
He didn't know

He didn't understand

Why she wanted

To hold his hand

But she did

And as they walked

His mind wandered

As she talked

Of love, caring

Relationships and giving

All he wondered

Was why they were living

Cold and removed

Was his philosopher's mind

But still she stayed

And said she'd be there for all time

Something inside him

Glowed and smiled

Her very presence

Made his cynical heart

Innocent as a young child

And for this, admitted or not

He would always love her

But she already knew.
